Are you talking about a timed 2000m swim for establishing a so-called
    'threshold' pace?

  4. yes

  5. yes can you help me?
    how can you determine?
is there any program to do this?

    Swim the 2000m

    get the time

    convert the time to seconds.

divide 2000 by the time in seconds (should give a number of
    1.*something*m/s) = pace time (eg. 1.35)

take the distance of the repetition you want to train (100m, 200m etc) and
divide that number by the pace time = goal time for that rep. (100 divide by
    1.35 = 74, or 1:14).

its a very clumsy number to use for pace prescription, and often too slow
for repetitions under 400m. Thats it though.

An alternative might be to 50-400 Critical Power test.

    350m/(Best 400m time - best 50m) = CPm/s ~= T2000m/s

  8. after obtaining the results what are the distance of the repetition and
the break time between each repetition?
give me some example please for aerobic 1 and aerobic 2

    --Mike

Hmm .. interesting, I have not heard of either of these before.

I haven't done a timed 2000m in the pool but 1000m is around 17:45 so
let's say 2000m is 36min (2160s) (allowing for the "shopping list
factor" - you know, your mind starts wandering & trying to remember
what you need to buy at the supermarket instead of concentrating on
    your pace, technique, etc ...)

    Best 400m = 6:39 = 399s
    Best 50m = 37s

    So we have
    T2000m/s = 2000m/2160s = 0.93m/s
    CPm/s = 350m/(399 - 37)s = 0.97m/s
    Reasonably close, I guess.

So for 100m this gives me a goal time of either 1:47 (@0.93m/s) or 1:43
    (@0.97m/s)

Is this the time I am supposed to swim the repeat in (in which case,
it's a bit on the slow side) or the interval time (in which case it's a
    bit on the fast side).

I generally do 100m repeats on 1:50-1:55 holding approx 1:40 pace.
(Depends a bit on how I'm feeling - sometimes a bit under 1:40,
sometimes a bit over, and on who else is on my lane & what interval
    they can hold).

Is this information telling me I am doing them too fast or too slow, or
    nothing useful.

    Thanks

The time is a pace time, not an interval time. As I mentioned, for reps
    below 400m it's generally a bit slow.

However, as a guideline to how a 'threshold' set should feel, it will
probably feel pretty darn comfortable for the first 10-15 minutes, start to
challenge you in the next 10 minutes and the final5-10 minutes should be
pretty tough - if for example you're doing 10 x 200 thats generally what I
    observe amongst the swimmers.

Critical Power may be a better prescription aid for shorter reps certainly.
I only use the T20/30 because I can get a few testing measures out of it -
the pace prescription is seconday and requires the use of a couple of
conversion factors for 100, 200 and 300 reps.
