{Thank God for Duct Tape}
Today's "Coastal 40" turned in to an impromptu metric century (plus a
little), and at the farthest point from home -- the Oceanside Pier -- I hear
a dull crack and feel something slip. Oh-oh, broken frame? Seatpost?
Nope, the saddle shell broke at the front rail bracket holder thingy,
causing the whole saddle body to come off the rails. D'oh.
Kris asked a passing tradesman if he had any duct tape, and within 4-5
minutes we were back on our way south. It came off the rails (in the back)
a couple more times, but(t) remained attached at least so I could keep
riding. Gingerly. Duct tape rules.
All things considered, it could have been a lot worse...
