  1. The 100-pound woman who holds the world lobster-eating title will be
trying her hand at burritos in a contest far from the land of TexMex.

The diminutive Sonya Thomas of Alexandria, Va., is coming to Maine for
the Costa Vida World Burrito Eating Championship on Sept. 22 at the
    Mexican restaurant.

Thomas, who's known as ''The Black Widow,'' humbled her larger male
counterparts by consuming 11.3 pounds of lobster meat in 12 minutes in
    2005 in Kennebunk.

Golly-gee, how amazing. Some people waste their lives finding cures for
diseases, helping the poor, working for peace, promoting civil rights,
growing food, protecting the environment, and other such silly pursuits.
Too bad we all can't be professional gluttons, a truly worthy life.

The Japanese are world class champions at gluttony when it comes to
    competitions like that.

Jeez! Don't think I've had 11.3 lbs total of lobster in my entire life
so far! Tastier than the hot dogs at least...
