Tip of the week: check ya cassette lockring if you haven't changed the cassette for ages. I swapped a couple around today, and one of the lockrings was so loose it started undoing as soon as I put the Shimano tool in. Believe me, Neville Newtons REALLY tightened it up in the first place

I might've found a new leader for the dumbest product I've seen: people riding with their mobiles in a pocket on the side of their dacks on their thigh. I'd be surprised if they're intended for cyclists, for the obvious reasons

Glioblastoma is just about the worst brain cancer you can have. Professor Richard Scolyer (big in melanoma treatment and research) has it. He's experimenting with the same treatment protocol they use for melanoma and seems to be doing ok. It's immunotherapy based. Hopefully it takes off and helps others. Probably too late for Andrew Hosking though.

I've read survivor stories by people who eat zero carbs. I gather it also comes down to good luck/genetics

it's actually the genetics of the tumour rather than your own genetics that determine outcome. If the tumour mutations have a targeted treatment it's better than the ones that don't.

In other news, I came down in the Tolland Open. Someone touched wheels and I rode over someone at 51 km/h. Nine riders went down and three riders including myself were carted off in ambulances . I thought I’d gotten away with it but unfortunately I have a wrist fracture in my radius. It’s nothing nasty but still requires six weeks in a cast.

Just when we have peak weather too! Riding on the indoor trainer is doing my head in as I’m not used to it. In the 12 months leading up to the stack I’d only ridden indoors once, and even then I gave up on it and went riding in the rain instead.

My bike appears relatively unscathed, with the seat post broken and a mark on the bar tape. One poor guy had his bike destroyed. Broken fork, cracked top tube and lots of broken spokes.
