My reply:

Ms Kent says that Mr and Mrs Average have far more
pressing things on their mind than worrying about the
speed limit on the stretch of road they are driving on
(HDM 19 APR 04). It comes as no surprise then that
according to Insurance Companies' accident data,
daydreaming is the number one cause of driving
accidents. Perhaps the person thinking about what to
have for tea instead of concentrating on their driving
might have something really important to worry about, if
through their lack of attention, they ran someone over
and killed them.

thousand people are killed on the roads every year, many of
them by distracted drivers.

Unfortunately I think she does have a point..... I
seriously believe that this is exactly how Mr&Mrs Average
see themselves these days. They said it would happen
eventually. Pander to the lowest common denominator,
rather than encourage everyone to achieve and that's what
everyone will aspire to....and on top of that, they also
believe the world owes them a living and it's bloody
unfair that we should finance these bloody illegal
immigrants who've never contributed a day in their lives
and will break the state, and yet when I'm made redundant
all I can claim is £50 a week job seekers allowance for 6
months when I've been contributing a grand a month
forever....and so on and so on....

Hi Jon (and Helen)

I have no idea of the reasons but in my experience lady
drivers do drive a little aggressively at school chucking
out time. I rarely cycle during either the morning or
evening rush hours so am not really able to comment on
others' driving at other times of day.

However, I do know that I come across women in control of
cars during the early to mid afternoon who know where
they're going and want to get there ASAP, if not sooner.

At other times of day, especially on major roads as
against urban streets, I feel that male drivers are more
of a menace.

Still, for most of my popping to the shops cycling, it is
women drivers in reasonably powerful cars which are fulll of
kids that are more dangerous to me.
