Absolutely freakin' right. I have two pairs of Shimano (XT & DX)
7/8/friction and one pair of *sweet* Suntour XC Pro 8s/friction thumbies. Durable, fantastic
shifting, never miss a shift.

I have two sets of XT thumbies, three of DX on my bikes. In my shop, I've still got two sets of DX
and a set of Suntour XC Pro left (along with a few other "Micro-drive" era parts.)

We actually leave thumbshifters on the bars just to have something to play with, going clicky clicky
back and forth like a kid with one of those annoying clackers. It keeps our knuckles from dragging

Ben I think I have three bikes with thumbshifters, and one has rollercam brakes (ugh)

Is there anyplace in the US to buy that British made mount which uses bar end shifters?

I like thumbshifters too, but I've had indexing problems with 8 speed Shimano using the XT 7 speed
and Suntour 8 speed shifters, so I use a RF+ rear shifter and a Suntour XC Pro front shifter.

The super secret is to take apart HG70 or 90 7 speed cassettes and build a custom stack using 7s
cogs and spacers. XT 7s thumbies shift like a dream on this special 8s cassette!
