Frankly, that's what's kept me from ever wanting to *take up* triathalons. 🙂

Really? I didn't know you enjoy running. If you are an active runner, there are probably a bunch of duathlon in your area.

Learning how to be competitive swimming, takes roughly 2 to 3 years, at a rate of 3to4 60to90min sessions per week. No sweat.

For someone highly analytic like you, it would probably becomes a real passion. A lot of physics and fluid mechanics involved 🙂

The fact is, the smarter you are, the faster you swim, effortless.

i have scrapped the time trial in place of an olympic dist tri a few weeks later in QLD

    I am SO GLAD.

Listen, I don't know how you train in the water, but here's a tip that will allow you to cut at least 10min per kilo, within one year.

    Go to http://www.swimsmooth.com

Paul Newsome has been a successful coach in Australia, UK, and recently I met him here in Canada. He sells very nice dvd material, with a bunch of drills. You can even contact him, send him a clip of yourself swimming, etc.

There is that other company, totalimmersion.nettotalimmersion.net

Terry Laughlin "has seen the divine light". He discovered how fun it is to swim long glides. He can be pretty inspiring at times, although I find his teaching suits more Pool Swimmers, rather than Open Water Swimmers.
