A friend of mine went shopping for *one* titanium spoke nipple. He wanted
to have a titanium part on his bike, just so he could talk about it. You're
right. It isn't always about weight. It's sometimes about pride of
ownership.

Bolts, steel or not, just aren't where rust is a problem. Don't
'invent' an excuse for an exotic material.

For general titanium screws, I've used www.hyperbolt.com, and buying
direct from SRP www.srp-usa.com also works; they have an Ultegra kit
which will probably be about GBP150 after shipping and taxes

carbon fibre bottle cage screws for GBP36 per 4

And whilst at the SRP site, be sure to read the FAQ; e.g., "a Dura-Ace

Don't use titanium stem bolts.

depends on application & quality. it's too broad a blanket statement to
say stainless bolts won't rust.

Had a friend from a local bike club some years ago who did this. He
weighed about 250 lbs. Man, did he take a ribbing!

SRP(Specialty Racing parts) used to do this but way expensive-$400+ for
a weight savings of not much. For lots of $, expect to save only grams.
Save your $, ride more, invest in a massage therapist or bike trip.

This is a great application for a spreadsheet. Enter in the parts you
are thinking of buying, and the grams saved, and the costs, and then
FIRST buy the part with the highest performance in dollars cost per
gram.

If you have a normal bike, with a 300 gram seatpost, this will be the
first part that I would replace, costing about 0.40c/gram.

But, Donald, this is way too rational of an approach. You're supposed
to buy this lightweight stuff with your heart (so to speak), not your
head. (In fact, if you use your head, you'll probably not buy most of
it.)
