In UGC cinemas alone, on today at:

London Fulham Road, Haymarket, Staples Corner Swindon, Slough, Crawley, Eastbourne Gloucester,
Bedford, Harlow, Birmingham, Nottingham Chester, Bolton Sheffield Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow

Well worth a little excursion (it won't be the same on DVD unless you have a h-u-u-uge
wi^h^h screen).

Saw it in Edinburgh some weeks ago, when most cinemas seemed to be showing it. Her indoors, who
doesn't usually like heroic bloke films, enjoyed it too.

I've actually been rather surprised at the extended run it has enjoyed, I thought it'd maybe only be
around for a week or two.

I'm not sure the big screen is essential either - apart from the pan out when they're at the start
of the climb, it's mostly rather claustrophobic.

Oh. That's a pity. I've heard that it's going to be on at that Rheged place near Penrith, and was
quite looking forward to it on an incredibly massive screen.

asked why they (Cameo) didn't swop theatres, since they'd obviously make more money. They said those
decisions were taken centrally and local cinemas were not allowed to change them.

Perhaps "centrally" means London, a place rather more sparsely endowed than the rest of the country
with mountain enthusiasts, outdoors folk, etc.?

filled screen 1 of a multiplex.

Dunno why it was a "15". A few sweary words (in understandable circumstances) but that's all.

Interesting. I went to see it at the Cameo the Friday after it came out (19 Dec iirc) and there
couldn't have been more than 12 people in the cinema. Ah, but it was the 1pm showing...

And there was me expecting to have to show my ice axe before getting entry....

Almost no restricted distribution films are ever shown in the West Midlands, so I waited for the
Edinburgh half of the week, and popped into the Cameo to see it. Hall full of hilly types mind.

Plan B, Lost in Translation was very good as well, and did feature one high promimnance
(3000m+) peak.

One review I read suggested this might have been deliberately ambiguous between a real backdrop and
a painted background to a driving range :-) (They've clearly never been to a driving range where the
presence of people six feet away and earsplitting alarms that go off if you dare walk off to the
front are a bit of a giveaway !)

A slow-burning but, I thought, rather involving little tale.
