  1. Tuesday night, my neighbor's house caught fire, and we were
up most of the night. Wednesday was spent trying to help her
make arrangements to get her life in some kind of order. It
was a major fire, but no people were hurt. There was one cat
fatality, tho, who belonged to the young girl (13) who is my
    daughter's best friend.

That calorie counter site doesn't list staying up all night
or adreneline-rushed stress, amazingly enough, but I was
starving yesterday! I did stay on program, and tried to
drink as much water as I could, figuring my body was pretty
stressed. I gave my neighbor my secret stash of Dove dark
chocolate eggs. I think she needed them more than me, and I
was craving them pretty badly. It was better to get them
    out of reach.

We are all hanging in there, and I'm going to try to stay on
program this week. Goodness knows there's enough to keep me
busy so I don't have idle hands filling my mouth.

  2. Best to your neighbor - that has to be horrible. Glad to
    hear NO PEOPLE were injured.

I'm sure that the stress is not completely over - you will
be seeing that burned house for a while. Take care of
    yourself and friends.

  3. You are truly a good neighbor to give your Dove dark
chocolate away! I hope your neighbors family the best.

  4. Wendy,

I can not express the sorrow I feel for your neighbor or
your daughter's best friend over her fur baby loss. My
apartment burned down in 2001 and like your neighbor's fire,
    no humans were hurt.

Is this your next door neighbor? Can you see the
    property easily?

  5. This is the neighbor I share a back fence with. The girl was
my mother's helper for over a year when my twins were
younger. The boy has baby-sat for us many times, and is a
life guard at the local pool. We have known them for 6 or 7
years. Before we lived in this house, we lived 2 blocks
away, and met them when my oldest started kindergarten.

My husband drove to western NC today to pick up the girl
from her grandparent's house. It was hoped that she could
stay there through the weekend, when things were more
settled, but she wanted to come home. My oldest daughter
went, too, and they talked the whole trip back - about 4
hours. I think it was good for both of them.
