Tr - glenshee munros

Did all of these some time ago. Great circuit.
Was up on Glas Maol and Creag Leacach on Saturday and it was cold but fine
to start off with at 9.30 (from the south end of the ski centre car park)
and Glas Maol was done in double-quick time. We reached the (busy) cairn on
Creag Leacach at mid-day.
On the return to the cairn at the north end of the wall the weather started
to close in but we'd decided to take the lower track back down anyway -
rather than reascend Glas Maol - and had no problems!
There was a tent near the cairn on the top of Glas Maol ... some intrepid
'bagger' no doubt!

around with 5 more peaks to do.

With such good weather the walk to Glas Maol was a formality. The snow
cover ranged from some largish patches of hard icy stuff to smaller knee
deep drifts. The ground was nicely frozen so any bogs were no longer a
hazard.

Cairn of Claise again was a straightforward point your nose in the
direction of the hill and walk, great fun in the snow drifts on the way up
here... Also there were obvious tracks from 1 (maybe 2) people who'd been
out skiing.

Clouding over now but not any real threat of rain/snow so it was an easy
walk east to Tom Buide followed by some slight back tracking and then
north to Tolmount.

Cairn an Tuirc provided the only bit of real navigation during the day.
Its summit is part of a fairly featureless plataeu and with the cloud
level dropping offered several opportunities to find the summit. We bumped
into the chap from preston again here and we walked together from here
partially for the company and partially to stick together in the murk.

By this time their was a definite rise in temperatures and the bogs were
starting to defrost...

Straightforward treck back to where I'd dumped the bike... what bike? Its
not marked on the OS map but theres a carpark (NO148800) just under 1k
south of the one on the OS map which is where this walk finshes.. I had
the joy of leaving my partner + the chap from preston who we'd offered a
lift to whilst I ran down to the other carpark to retrieve the bike then
cycle back to the car, 5k or so mostly uphill + the run + 6 munros...

A great day out though, did the circuit in around 6 hours. Pictures will
follow, some great views this time.

For those who are interested in this sort of thing, post walk food was
curry + beer back in Edinburgh.

Interesting, there was definitely no tent on Glas Maol when we were thre
on Saturday. Probably reached the summit around 10.30am

It certainly looked like a (one-man) tent - although we didn't go right over
to it - and it was about 100m short of the cairn, off to the north side of
the path. There was another, much smaller, dome-shaped, plastic mesh 'cage'
not far from it - perhaps some kind of survey - there was a marker with the
number 6 on it at one corner.
We were a group of 4 - two blokes and two 'girls'. Who knows, maybe we
passed each other at some point!
