Is it much nicer than the aquatic centre in North Adelaide?

Yes. North Adelaide only has the one pool, which is indoors. It's
excellent, but the Perth center has three 50 meter pools, one indoors
and two outdoors. It is heaven for serious swimmers.

Yes I can see that - plus it's much nicer to swim in the sunshine when it's
warm enought. (plus you have *real* beaches in Perth!)

Well, there are some nice ones in Brisbane as well.

Yes. I have a good job here in Norway, so I'm hoping to transfer down
there as we build up our business there. But, realistically, I will
probably be in Sydney or Melbourne. Our two big customers down there now
are Coles Meyer and the ATO.

Yes Coles Myer have admin in Melbourne and huge of course. You are right,
Sydney or Melb are the obvious choices from a business viewpoint

  5. I'll probably get (justifiably) flamed for interjecting politics, but
I'm interested in Martin's comparison/contrast between John Howard and
    Geo W Bush.

I think they are not muchl alike. Keeping in mind that Australia's
equivalent of America's Republican party is called the Liberal party,
John Howard is much more a classical liberal than an American
Republican, which is to say he is what an American Republican used to
be and ought to be, a counterbalance to the Democrats. The Australian
version of the Bush administration and the neocon death cult is the
National party, but I haven't heard much about them lately; I don't
know if they are still functioning.

Howard is much more knowledgable about the world outside his own
country than is Bush, which is to say he knows something. I would say
he is a pragmatist and a classical liberal. Although I'm not a Howard
fan at all, the Labor party in Australia suffers from the same lack of
leadership as the Democrats in America. Both Australian Labor and US
Democrats moved to the right over the last 25 years, and now they both
have no well defined philosophy and no leadership.

The Republicans no longer need to counterbalance the Democrats in
America because there isn't anything to counterbalance. The Democrats
have moved way too far right. I don't see this situation improving in
America or Australia as we move into global warming, dwindling oil,
dwindling water, and as China, India, Russia, and Brazil, become world
    power rivals.
