  1. 100 mile ride in 10 weeks, are there any good websites to get training
    advice?

Unless you're totally new to cycling and/or hopelessly obese and unfit,
you won't need much in the way of training.

When I did my first century I did no preparation beyond my usual 4 mile
commute (wearing a suit and taking it easy) and having a full English
    breakfast before setting off.

    Wow, steady!
I wasn't going to offer advice but one thing I will say is don't follow this
    advice!

OK you don't need to be superfit, especially if you want to take a long time
but you do need to accustom yourself to either being fast and having a short
time in the saddle or being slow and having a long time in it.
If discomfort develops through not being used to being on a bike for
several hours then fitness is secondary as the whole experience will be
    miserable.
So what I'd say is start riding your bike for longer periods each weekend
(assuming normal work patterns) with shorter rides during the week, worry
less about pace and more about distance.

At ten miles a week average training isn't needed ;-)

I think you should find it quite easy to cover 100 miles in 10 weeks,
it's about a mile and a half per day.

Seriously, I would aim to do a twenty mile ride each weekend for the
first five weeks, then a forty each weekend for the next three, then a
sixty, and then just do twenty the weekend before the century.

  9. Build up your distances gradually.

    On the ride itself:

    Eat often
    Drink often
Attend to minor discomforts before they escalate into major pains
    Don't get lost
    Plan ahead
Don't use any new or unfamiliar kit or food.

Join the local CTC and go on a few sunday rides, 60+ miles. Not only will
you get the required fitness, but all the free advice about riding long
distances that you would ever want.

That's a bit of a dramatic build up. Audrey and I reached our first 20 mile
weekend ride today, on our 3rd weekend out, having built up from no more
than 10 mile rides before we started. Our intention is to build gently up
from 20 towards 40, rather than doing a sudden leap. The encouraging thing
is that one long weekend ride plus riding just a bit harder and faster while
commuting during the week is paying off; I was tired today after 20 miles,
but not as tired as I was two weeks ago after 13.

    Get on bike. Ride.

    Do more next time.

    Repeat.

    Easy.

whereas I made the mistake of fiddling with my bike set up yesterday,
and now my posterior is protesting more than in previous weeks :-(

Well done both of you. I have been tied up with family and having to sort
the allotment so haven't been out for anythign really worthwhile. Did go up
the Law twice on friday evening though.

Need to get some more miles in. I'm supposed to be riding to Aberdeen in a
    few weekends time.

I surprised myself by going out at lunchtime today for another 10 fast for
me miles - had an irritating morning at work, and wanted to burn off the bad
mood before an important meeting in the afternoon. Does anyone else go for
a ride in order not to throw things at coworkers?

Oh yes, most definitely. If I am feeling stressed out the quickest way for
me to de-stress is to get out on my bike and pootle the lanes.

I don't ride specifically for that reason but if I'm stressed before a ride
    I'm not after.

On a stressfull day, I can't wait to get on the bike and hit the traffic,
take the long way home and hammer up the hill past the fire station.
