Traveling with bike

I can't remember if SuperShuttle services the FLL airport, but they probably have a website and can
tell you about any/all fees.

Assemble the bike and ride to Boynton Beach. It would be a good stretch after sitting on that plane.
Boynton Beach is only an hour or so by bike from FLL.

My inlaws are in Boynton Beach and last year I shipped a bike down and left it there to use when we
visit every February.

Anyway, I'd suggest that you ship your bike rather than take it on the plane. FedEx Ground is
awfully inexpensive...takes about a week for delivery and runs $15-$25 each way. Much easier than
lugging to/from the airport...they even pick up.

You also have better options regarding insurance this way.

Let me know where you find good riding. The only good riding I've found so far in that area (given
the vagaries of 90 year old blue hairs in Cadillacs or Corollas) is on A1A running along the shore.
I'll bet there's good riding further inland (west of Boynton)...I just haven't found it yet.

TriAll3 is a great case, but they are way big. Best to rent a SUV put down rear seat and it will fit
with luggage. Unfortunately, the SUV is expensive (although I rented a Jeep Liberty when racing in
KY this Summer and it wasn't too expensive and the case fit fine). If it's just you and the wife no
problem. If there are kids you'll need to rent a Lincoln Navigator for $200/day.

Rent-a-car is probably easiest. In July, I rented a Ford Escape at LAX from Budget--$150/week
unlimited miles. Check their specials.

Otherwise, I've had good luck with the local shuttle vans (Kansas City) when I've called ahead to
ensure space for two bike cases.

Were you and your wife planning to spend two weeks in Boynton Beach without a car? If you were
planning to get a car, let her drive it to the hotel while you can ride there. Once you get off the
airport grounds, it's extremely easy to get to A1A and go north (although I recommend pausing at the
Elbo Room for a beverage and the sights of the beach).

Vic, IN THE BOX... and it was fun to drive the big boat....

Don't believe it. Boynton is an hour by bike from West Palm Beach airport (PBI). It's 45 minutes by
car from FLL on interstate 95 at highway speeds.

Rent a car for one day one way at the airport to be dropped of at Boynton. It may even be as cheap
or cheaper than the shuttle.

I recently flew Boynton to Baltimore on Southwest (where I stayed for a few days), then to Iceland
on IcelandAir (where I stayed for a few days), then Copenhagen (where I stayed for a few days), then
to Paris on Airfrance, taking my bike to all those places. I took it in cars, airport shuttles and
airport buses without a problem. It was in a soft case with both wheels, pedals and stem off, so may
have been smaller than your case.

FYI, only SW charged me a fee ($40). The bike was my only checked luggage (the rest was carryon), so
they agreed to wave the fee.

Agreed. You probably wouldn't even make it to Pompano Beach in the first hour, nor (as I
recommended) should you try to. Expect to take about 2 1/2 hours (at 20 mph avg) to get there and
enjoy the ride.
