  1. Hi, I am going to be purchasing a new road bike soon. The trek 1.5 is my main consideration, anybody who has this bike can you tell me some pros/cons. I just do not want to make a foolish mistake, because it takes me forever to make that much money since I am a student. Thanks -RedRider

My brother in-law got one for Christmas and he loves it.

  3. Not being a snob here, but if you can afford it step upto the 1.7

It has a full 105 set+ ultegra rear. So what that means is 10 spd cassette, 105 brakes (compared to generic), better crankset, and in general better shifting and durability.

105 is really good value stuff, I know a number of guys that ride a lot and are happy with it.

  4. No 1.7s in the USA. Thats a European model.

1.7? What is that? It is not on the trek website.

  6. here is the 1.7

  7. Trek makes "European only" models? That seems kinda strange for a Wisconsin company....

  8. Well it seems they make more models than what they choise to sell in the US.

The 1.7 is on the Trek Australia website. However we get only one women's model, no mens, for the 2 series of frames (the one with carbon stays).

  9. Trek has different product lines for just about every region that they sell to. Not exactly sure why, but they have done it for awhile now.

  10. I have a trek 1.5 and I love it. Has a mix a carbon fiber parts and upped components from the 1.2 it also has a couple extra gears as well. The handles bars are 31.8 unlike the 1.2 and 1.1. its also a more comfortable ride from the lower models and handle nice. I recommend it 🙂
