trek 1200 upgrade

Having owned a 1200 myself (before a motorist wiped me off it) I can safely say that it is the frame which will hold you back the most. It isn't too hard to find a frame that is more responsive (stiffer bottom bracket) than a 1200. Changing the wheels may help a bit but you won't notice anywhere near the response you probably want.
Time to go bike shopping!

A hybrid bike (presuming you mean what I think you mean - flat handlebars, suspension seatpost, really easy gears and wider tyres) will definitely not go any faster than a dedicated road bike. Why talk about upgrading to carbon forks etc. if your choice of upgrade frame is a hybrid?

no,giant tcr hybrid(alu frame with full carbon rear stay).
test riding one this weekend.should make a huge differance to what iv'e got.what bike are you riding?

Good Idea to test ride the bike first. I don't think Ive ever seen one of these bikes before. Giant have a reputation for value. They have been reffered to (cruelly) as "throwaway bikes for A graders" but I havent heard of significant problems with them.

Personally I ride and race a Tomassini Techno Extra constructed from Columbus Genius Steel. It rides well but is lacking in stiffness and responsiveness and is a bit too heavy for my liking.
