  1. Hello everyone -

Bought my first bottle of black truffle oil today, and I was
curious as to what all it can be used for. Any favorites
floating around out there? Also, should I store it in the
freezer? I've seen this done before, not sure if it's
    necessary, though.

    Thanks,

    Joe

Eggs, of course. Compliments any egg dish for sure.

A Croque Monsieur, done correctly will take you to a higher
plane🙂 Sprinkled with Truffle oil. This is a sandwich with
ham and cheese, and it gets egg dipped and pan fried.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar ever so lightly. Then, with
    the truffle oil. Aiiiiiiiiiii... Flashbacks!

Pork chops, are a natural for this as well. (Low and
behold, I'm having that exact thing tonight.) I keep Black
and White oil as well. They are different. And each person
for no particular reason will favor one. I prefer black.

I make toast, and sprinkle with truffle oil. Rub with
    garlic, and top with
cream cheese and Tamago. (Lil' red fish eggs. Sort of a
    caviar.) Heaven.

Lasagna. Pasta with red sauces or even white. Pizza. Oh
    yes. Black oil on pizza.

Dig in🙂 Let us know if you had found another use.
    There is many.

Pour a little over a poached egg on toasted bread. Yummy.

What a stupid asswipe you are. For your information, the
above dish is served here in one of NY's trendiest, most
popular restaurants (ino, in the Village), and this
particular dish has been favorably reviewed by several food
critics. Expand your horizons, you provincial fool.

"Pour a little over a poached egg on toasted bread" seems
    pretty straight to
me. Or do you need instructions for poaching eggs and
    toasting bread? Sheesh!

evidently to be part of rec.food.cooking you have to be
pretty much a rude sardonic [censored]. its amusing to see
racially charged slurs used over a cabbage wilting
techinque or a hotdog. besides new yorks trendiest most
popular restaurants can suck my balls on a hot south
    carolina summer day

<LOL> Oh, look. A new and successful recruit.

Welcome aboard A.C., but you're not really "here" until
Sheldon the [censored], plagiarist extraordinaire, mental
defective, and ex-navy cook calls you something
astonishingly inappropriate. *Then* you're really here.
Given that you mention South Carolina and don't use

    yo' mama and her

desperately limited IQ and the failure of your small
intelligence to master "proper" English. He does stuff like
that to all the people he envies.

So. You like to cook 'n stuff?

thanks! if my family is attacked for being trailer dwelling
redneck hicks, i'm afraid i woudn't have defensive leg to
stand on :P i feel that it is this sort of upbringing that
allows me to butcher the english language and have complete
disregard for punctuation and capitalization 😉 hell you
should *hear* me talk. all that aside, i do like to cook
(and eat the results) i'm not really into haute cuisine or
anything. actually i pretty much dislike any pretentious
[censored] like food stacked into a tower that requires a squeeze
bottle for presentation. give me good ole down home food
anyday! and maybe some good fresh sushi too.

That's all well and good, but do you really think that a
poached egg on toasted bread should be dismissed as
pretentious, haute cuisine [censored]? Seems about as basic
and down home as you can get. Give it a try (with the
    truffle oil).

I am sure that their mouths are not nearly small enough.
But seriously, why do you knock something that you
obviously know nothing about? Do these restaurants make you
    feel insecure?

    Hello Joe,

Do not store it in your freezer please! You can keep it
quite a while, although it is to delicious to keep it long
:-))! Sprinkle some truffle oil over carpaccio served with
Parmesan and Rucola leaves, or a dash in your mushroomsoup.

    Marie-Anne.
