Two stoves-I'mjealous

When I was a kid, we had a second stove in the basement. We'd moved
from an apartment where they didn't provide appliances (odd, I know) to
a house with built-in range and wall oven. It gave my Mom someplace to
bake things without heating the kitchen, and we boys sometimes cooked
some stuff on it (the ones who lived in the basement).

I like to multi-task. Not just on the computer. I have a
bread machine that is a small oven too. It came in handy
when I had the family over. I have the microwave. You know
I'm getting my new Jenn Air Tuesday and it has 2 ovens and 5
burners.

kitchen is decent but nothing fancy. The stove works fine, it's
electric, I've used in on thanksgiving. I've had tenant's just about
all my adult life... don't think I really want to deal with it anymore.
I had a tenant when I first moved here, they came with the place, but
a few months passed and they moved. I haven't actively looked to
replace them, the house has been empty over two years now. I've
slowly begun to take over that house, the garage has become my
gardening shed, and I store a few things in the house. I suppose if
the right person came along I may decide to rent it.

Very nice. I am jealous of that lot (although I probably would have a
difficult time taking care of the lawn myself) and having a spare

I bet you could do that lawn real easy, it's level and not much cutting
around things... and that gym set is no longer there.... takes me about
an hour once a week to do the front, back, and sides, about two acres
worth... of course you need the right mower.

That's only a small piece of it, just the portion around the rental
house. But I really don't kill myself maintaining it. With the right
equipment most of the labor is minimal, mostly just my time. All
together I mow about ten acres worth, once a week... and some portions
every two weeks... of course a lot depends on weather, can't mow very
well when it's been raining, the ground gets soft and the tractors sink
in. On average I can mow everything in an eight hour day, and that
includes all the close in push mower work and string trimming. With my
54" mower I do all the perimeters and around the trees, etc. And with
my 84" mower I can make quick work of mowing one acre after another.
And then there are all my shrubs and flower beds to work on, and my
vegetable garden. This year I decided to donate some of that fenced in
space for a bunch of blueberry bushes, I don't really need so muhc
space for veggies, I can't possibly use them all. At first I thought
18 but now I've decided on 24 blueberry bushes, eight each of three
different types. Each type matures at a different time so with having
them staggered I will have blueberries all summer, and hopefully enough
to freeze so I can have some in the winter too. Now I'm wondering how
long it will take to harvest those berries, and if I'll have to
outsmart the birds.

Haven't seen crawdads but there's aplenty "such", such as frogs and
salamanders, occasionally a snake. Sometimes the water runs right to
the top... a person could about go white watering. It took me a long
time and a lotta sweat to clear the high growth and then to do my
plantings. Now I'm waiting for spring in hopes of seeing what made it.

I also have a cute little pond settin' in my wildflower meadow, once a
year during late summer I hack it all down with the brush hog, keeps it
healthy:

There's plenty wildlife attracted to that pond, you name it... and it's

not taken in winter.. although it's unseasonably warm now, was 50º
yesterday... it's 41º now and it's almost 9pm.

Rochester is a good drive from me but doable.
Niskayuna is not nearly as far from where I am.

Mostly she comes here, since our mother lives near Rochester. But, of
course I have visited her several times in Niskayuna. Both of my kids went
to Albany for 4th grade class trips, and I went along as a parent chaperone
and really enjoyed the area,

I don't do vegetable gardens any more, but I have some flower gardens. I
have one lilac bush that I have been experiementally pruning over the last
few years to see what happens.

By the way, yesterday it was 59* here and today, one of those mini
snow-tornadoes blew by my window bird feeder, lol.

Do you do gardening?
