Last Sunday was the Groundhog run here in Kansas City. This is the most unique run I have ever done
(and I have done it about 7 times). It is run entirely underground in a limestone mine.

the results and a photo are at www.mararunning.org

More photos of the cave are found at http://www.huntmidwest.com/Subtropolis/WhatIsSubtropolis.shtml

This is the flattest run imaginable. The 10 K is two loops of the 5 K course. The run is in the
developed, industrial part of the mine. Mostly you are running through parking lots and loading
docks. It was about 10 F outside and 50 F in the caves this Sunday morning.

If you can be in the midwest next feb, this is a great race to experience. The race is a charity for
the Children's Therapeutic Learning Center http://www.childrenstlc.org/pages/groundhog.html

What is the air quality like for that run? What are the winning times like for the 5k/10k? Is it
humid down there? 50 degrees F sounds pretty comfortable, otherwise.
