I realise ther may be a more appropiate chat room for this but I needed to get my messgae out to as many people as possible as quick as possible.
I am doing my first long distance cycle. I am cycling 439 miles from London to Lands End on my own. I am starting on Thursday 6th July and I manage to crush my cycling glasses last night :eek:
Can anyone tell me where I can get some perscription sun glasses made in less than 2 weeks. My local shop said they take 6 weeks which obviously is no good.
I'm nervous about this bike ride as it is and now this has happend. I've also checked out the weather report and its supposed to be very hot and sunny that week 😎
Unfortunately, it has been several years since I have been to the UK, and fortunately, I never had to replace my glasses while I was there, so I cannot give you any recommendations. Six weeks, though, seems way out of line. I was able to get prescription Oakley sunglasses - not the prescription inserts, but real prescription sunglasses - from my optomitrist in five days. There are many optician chains in the US that will make prescription lenses in two hours.
I have many friends who work in and around London. I will see if any of them have any ideas.
you'll be right as rain with perfect vision a hell of a lot sooner than the two weeks needed for your glasses 🙄
It is great for some people, but worthless for others. One of my daughters had tremendous success, but my sister-in-law nearly went blind. Now, she can see slightly better without her glasses than she could before, but before, her vision could be corrected to 20/20 with glasses. Now, the best she can get with glasses or contacts is 20/40. I am not even a candidate for the surgery. My pupils are too large and my corneas are too flat. I have to hold out for lens implants.
That would be great if you could. There must be somewhere in England that can make sunglasses
Here is what I heard back from one of my friends:
[font=Arial]The prescription glasses place that is most famous over here for quick turn around is called spec savers. I would imagine this would be the second port of call if soemone's routine optician was requiring a long turnaround for a prescription. Again they may do this for routine prescriptions and may need longer for more obscure stuff. I have astigmatism which requires a slightly less standard prescription and usually have to wait a couple of weeks for my glasses but that is from a more routine optician not a fast turn around specialist.
Not sure about the glassess! But your ride sounds like an awesome endeaver. Good luck and have fun.
Cheers mate, really looking forward to it. Received a weather up date from the met office this morning and they are predicting very hot sunny weather, hope its not too hot but I just cant take the wind.
Thanks for the replies about the glasses lads. If anyone knows of a place that does cycling glasses in store in the UK please let me know. I need perscription ones which makes it a pain.
