Tim, you're considerably younger than me, and it's moderately amusing to read of this retro grouch attitude. I gave up on clunky newsgroup technology in 1996, and didn't get ADSL to simply stuff around in newsgroups. A whole new world awaits.

Another Aus based forum here, maybe a base for a BR/FR takeover?

Still, usenet is instant; web forums have to wait for the browser to
ask the webserver to stuff around, doing its thing. Then there's the
issue that news readers were designed for group discussions, and web
browsers were.... not.

H0h0h0. My ISP's newserver sucks so much that CF's web forum is always a few posts up and any posts I make on it are /never/ propogated back to other services.

There are many reasons why webforums suck, but immediacy wouldnt be one of them.

I didn't think "they" could decide the location of future events until
the current one? ie. 2006's location will be picked at some point during
the '05 SSWC in Pennsylvania??

The only info I 'Spot' is this quote from Eric Roman (SSWC05 promoter):
"Back from past years will be the Derby to help decide the location for
2006 - be ready to throw down."

Guess the NZ lads and lasses will need to get derby machines tuned and
their derby pants on.. i mean.. off (it is an ss event).

Flash 7? Wow! I don't know that macromedia have even bothered to
release a flash 6 for Lunix yet. Better to avoid proprietry tools
altogether, when they are unnecessary.
