What I meant was that the US Army is not occupying Kuwait. They are not in
control of Kuwait. The US public is extremely anxious for them to pull out

What I meant was that the US Army is not occupying Kuwait. They are not in
control of Kuwait. The US public is extremely anxious for them to pull out
of Iraq.

The original post in this thread was meant for a different newsgroup. I
posted it here by mistake. I think the point about occupation is that
Iraq is the only country the US is occupying at the moment, in the
standard sense of an occupation.

I just said it was posted here by mistake. I didn't apologize. I think
the occasional political discussion raises the level of discourse here.

I don't think the USA is doing what the hell it likes in the world. The
Bush administration thought *it* could do what the hell it likes, but
even they have now seen that they can't do what the hell they like,
without incurring serious consequences.

I don't know what serious consequences you think there should be for the
people who voted for the government. The first time they voted for Bush
was a mistake. The second time...

Spell checkers can be of limited value only, as the Micro$soft OE one only
uses American English. As we in England well know, Americans routinely use
incorrect spellings but think they are right.
