I wouldn't knock them if I was you Andy... ignore the commercials and
try their all-natural yoghurt. It tastes like yoghurt USED to before
they started adding all the [censored] to it. Their vanilla acidophilis
drink tastes pretty good too.

It is creepy.

I also think making up Latin names for common bacteria and trademarking
the name is irritating. I wonder if Dannon has to pay a royalty to
Warner Brothers cartoons, and Wile E. Coyote in particular.

I avoid Dannon products now because of the stupid commercials (this one
and the "Bifidus regularis[tm]" commercial)

Of course I remember the good old yogurt with the "fruit on bottom!" Back
when a container was almost a meal.

I did eat Activia yogurt for a little while. But the carton was sized for a
baby and the surprise when I detected a piece of fruit failed to impress.
Get less/pay more doesn't fly in my book.

I'm OK with a large tub of Stoneybrook plain yogurt and fresh fruit.

Basically I don't need danon telling me what I should be putting into my
body for their bottom line. I don't beta-test food!

If that bacteria is so beneficial how come every company isn't pitching it?

Is Danon any worse than the rest of the advertisers? I actually find their
commercials somewhat refreshing compared to some of the [censored] being peddled. I
particularly hate the pharmaceutical ads. Aren't all those over-the-hill men
just great riding their mountain bikes and playing basketball, and not having to
rush to the restroom constantly because of their enlarged prostates? I was
wondering how many nutritional supplements from Bayer I should be taking for my
aging cells, my feeble mind, my poor eyesight, my weak heart and my fragile
bones? All of my problems would be solved if I popped all five of Bayer's
nutritional supplements. And then there's the fantasy land of SUVs climbing
mountains when the biggest obstacle the average buyer is going to encounter is
the speed bumps at the mall. No, I don't mind the Danon commercials at all (and
I don't buy their products in any case).

What do you think of the Mrs. Dash commercials? I also find these a refreshing
break from all the other [censored].

Well, some bateria *is* good for your digestive tract. In fact,
active culture yogurt has been recommended for years to help with
some stomach disorders. Nothing new or exciting there.

No, you can trademark the name, and you can patent the oraganism. I suspect
they have done both. I'm not sure I like the idea of pantented DNA and
the like, but it's legal. People have been doing genetic playing around
for thousands of years to develop new strains of yeast and other microbes.
Nothing new or exciting about that either. I don't know if Danon went in
for selective breeding or recombinant DNA, I suspect the former because it
is cheaper and easier.

Clearly, in the context of that commercial, he's talking about himself and
his (TV) family, not about you, me and everybody in the world, although

You can when it is genetically engineered/altered just a smidge and you are
the patent owner or licensee.
