Easter should be fine. They generally only really get
going around late May/early June, so shouldn't be any
need to worry.

If I'm wrong about that, or you end up there later, I'd get
a midge hood. As long as there's any wind at all they
generally stay down, but while you can whip off a hood in
such instances DEET will still be eating away at your body.
I personally find it more annoying than the midges a lot of
the time, and while it usually works it doesn't always, but
a mesh hood always does (as long as you remember long
sleeves and trousers too, unlike mozzies they can't bite
through anything much in the way of fabric so even a Helly
thermal top is proof enough).

That's pretty much the worst area for midges.

However they don't normally start before mid-May so you
should be fine.

Just take something for emergencies <g>.

Should be no problem with the "wee beasties" next week, IMO,
no need for protection, until May at the earliest in my
experience. I always carry a midge-net anyway! Just in case.

Any way, if you run between Kinlochleven ~ Fort Bill it
should only take about an hour or two;-)

Bite the bullet Chris - you only have to buy a midge net
once and it will serve you well in the future. You can get
one that goes over a wide brimmed hat, or one that has an
integral hat (Life Systems)

DEET has worked for me, but not as well as a decent breeze
and avoiding still water. Loch Lomond was the worst part of
the trip for midgies, I was forced to chain smoke from Bein
Glas towards Inversnaid :-)

At the Cwellyn Expedition, Stuart Baldwin, Paul S and I were
the only ones laughing - we had nets. Difficult eating
barbequed sausage through the mesh though :-)
