Today my front light dropped off it's mount and under the wheels of a following Vauxhall Ashtray. It is no more. What front light would you recommend under £20? I'd prefer it to be as bright as possible and preferably to be capable of running off NiMH batteries (ie, have a voltage regulating driver), or rechargeable. I tend to run a light all year round, day and night for visibility, but runtime isn't really a problem if it's over an hour.
What would you suggest? Has anyone tried the Electron cheap SLA lights? Are they simple to remove? Bottle cage mounting for the battery is not an option unless I lose my lock...
The Tesco 'finest' set for about £13 is OK for going to and from work (unless they've changed it again). The front light takes 4xAAA batteries and is pretty bright with NiMh batteries although I'm not sure it has a good viewing angle - mainly because cars still don't seem to see me when I'm using it. It will light up dark country lanes just enough to see the potholes as long as you're not going too fast.
Another problem is that the bracket is pretty [censored] and I've lost 1 after hitting a pothole and another after a mishap with a bus. The second is still going though with a penny shoved in the bottom to ensure the batteries still make contact with the lamp, a tight elastic band around the bracket and a bit of string hooked around it just in case something else goes wrong (much easier to remove and reattach than it sounds!)

I am using at the moment the Eurolight, has re-chargeable batteries nice bright led's, have only charged them up once so far. Set at the right angle I have cars flash me as if to say there too bright.

Halogen? It will eat batteries. Over the lifetime of the cheap lamp it will probably cost more than three times the purchase cost in batteries.
Having broken two cateye EL530 at non-free each I took the plunge and bought some AyUps (www.ayup.com.au) which are expensive, but very bright, very light and not at all fragile. In fact, if you break it within ten years then they replace it.
Out of your immediate price range, but definitely worth looking at if you even vaguely consider spending serious money on some lights.
