Where do you lot work (showers etc.)?

Where do you lot work? It seems like you can all have a shower and change
your clothes once you get to work, and have somewhere to put the bike. The
best I've known at anywhere I've worked is being allowed to bung your bike
indoors somewhere out of the way and having a wash in the lavs...

A university with an enlightened travel plan - at least on this campus.

We have showers, a locked bike shed, and a generally positive attitude.

The weather isn't bad, the scenery is great, the drivers fairly benign.

Various:

Big engineering company - decent bike parking (Cambridge, they need it),
informal place to put clothes, no shower.
District Council - ok bike parking, much less well used, could have changed
if I'd wanted to.
Small IT company - garage, shower, tumble dryer for clothes! (aka decent
boss).
Big engineering company again - work from home, so irrelevant.

In the park - no showers, but I work close to my bike and it doesn't
matter if I'm a bit sweaty since it's the outdoors and I'm teaching
skating anyway.

We had 16% of staff arriving on site *before* last years massive
building programme. The planning conditions demanded a travel plan and
infrastructure to continue and grow this proportion. So, all buildings
have bike sheds[1] and many buildings have showers. However, I reckon
most people (inc me) ride in wearing work clothes.

To even my suprise, these racks are virtually all full. We are
continuing to add more to meet demand.

Try getting a job with a bigger company. I once worked at BBC Worldwide
in in Shepherds Bush, which is like a self-contained small town,
complete with shops, restaurants, bars, gyms, etc.

2 mile commute -- downhill on the way in so showers are not necessary
(though are available).

Lareg financial services company, large bike shed (but not locked and
only 8 Sheffield stands - the rest are wheel-benders and it gets full),
rather overheated showers shared with the onsite gym, but no lockers.
The latter is a killer because you can't, say, drive one day and stash
enough clothes for the rest of the week, which means carting a load of
kit in and out every day.

In the goode olde NHS we have showers, it's part of the perks of being
forced to work 24 hrs a day ;-)only since they discovered that we go
straight home afterwards they haven't repaired it ;-(

I can bung the bike out of the way under the stairs. I normally cycle
in in my work clothers (it's only two miles) and go slowly so I don't
sweat. On the days I do a longer ride in, I wash in the lav.

Bike sheds at rear of building, access only by 24hr security gate. CCTV.
8 showers.
Personal clothes locker on ground floor, albeit small. My desk in on
the 7th.

48 mile round commute, plenty of options to make it longer which I do
when the weathers nice.

We've just had the security system upgraded at work. Our security
cameras can now be accessed on the LAN, so I can keep an eye on my bike
from my desk :-)

My small office (15 staff) doesn't have showers, but I've never felt the
need anyway. We have 2 Sheffield stands right outside the main door,
covered by CCTV, and nobody objects to me splashing myself down in the
gents.

(Bikes used to get locked to gates and drainpipes, but when we had an
extension built a few years ago the MD asked if I'd like some proper
stands installed since he was having building work done anyway. I
contacted CycleWest and got the Sheffield stands, the boss arranged for
them to be fitted.)

Not [censored] job, just no facilities. Bike sits in storeroom, I wash and change
in the loo. And even though the company has what I'd reckon to be a very
high percentage of cyclists (although the arithmetic is skewed with it being
a very small co), we're probly happier carrying the bikes up 3 floors and
having them safely tucked away than chained to a rack somewhere out the
back.

But being able to have a shower would be very nice.

The showers we have at work belong to the gym, therefore, you have to be a
member of said gym. Luckily for me, there's a much better gym just across
the square from where I work, which costs me a fortune, but it has a
swimingpool from heaven and it's an amazing gym, so I get changed there.

Where I used to work a few years ago we did have showers on the 1st floor
that were not part of any gym.

These two companies are investment banks. Maybe you should go into
banking.... :-)

Small industrial unit, split into offices (where I toil) and factory
(where others do).

Bike goes in the factory on the rare days I get to ride in, wash in
the teeny sink in the khazis, complete (or incomplete) with missing
plug.

There's one shower on the 7th floor but I've never used it and don't
know if it works.

Bike parking is a bit of a joke, though it was something I asked the
joint CEO about it before we moved there in 2002. There's lots of space
in the basement car park for cars (top level management park there free
I suppose, anyone else driving in would pay near NCP rates). But not a
single proper bike stand, so us cyclists just chain our bikes to
whatever railings there are. My bike clothes go in the bottom of the
large filing cabinet near the exit, but if they're wet I hang them on
the coat rack to dry as there are very few radiators and we're not
allowed to dry things on them. Wet shoes I stuff with paper towels from
the men's loo.
