AMB, I'll say it. I've been running!
I know, I know...it's not MTBing that's for sure, but I've
always wanted to try some distance running.
I did the Great Potato half-marathon last Saturday. Both
training and the actual event were quite a bit more
challenging than I had anticipated (not to mention that I
was 40 minutes late for the start!...but that's another
story altogether).
I can pretty much come off the couch and do a 10k, so I
didn't think much about doubling that distance, but that was
a mistake. Let's just say I have a new respect for distance
runners.
The question now is, do I build on this base and try a Fall
marathon...always wanted to, but WHAT a time commitment.
Geared riding, SSing, windsurfing, and just about all other
recreational activities will suffer horribly this Summer.
Hmmmmmmm

Alright Gman!.....
There are a lot of "training programs" that build up your distance.
In general if your not worried about speed, simply keep adding length
every week. Depending on your race date you can work backwards to
figure you how much length to add each week to your long runs. For a
marathon you want to be able to comfortably do 20 miles as our long
run at least 2 week out from your race date. You can do a google or
get a running book to check out the details. DON"T go to far to fast,
even though you may feel great it's not worth the injuries that can
occur.

Peace Bro,
BTW Single Speeding helps tremendously!
