Where to ride (Coker)

Local tennis courts*? Car park of local supermarket? Once round the
lake at the local park? Find a cycle path and ride along that.

*Tim Henman has one he won't be using😉

Many cities have maps for local bicycle routes and the local dedicated
bicycle paths. Find out if your city has such a map and get one. Often
they're free (your tax dollars at work).

Ask at a local bike shop if they have a map of local bike trails. Ask
if they have any suggestions for places to go ride.

See if you have any local 'Rails-to-Trails' (http://www.railtrails.org/)
trails nearby that are open to bikes. These trails often make excellent
Coker trails. Even the trails that aren't paved can be excellent for a
Coker. The Coker does really well on lightly graveled trails.

Try your county, too... here's what my county (Kane, Illinois) put

Check the dept's of transportation and the park districts.

At the state level, some states have pretty decent bike maps. Illinois
again: <http://www.dot.state.il.us/bikemap/STATE.HTM>

John_Childs had some good practical suggestions in response to your
totally generic post. You might consider actually telling us where you
live...there are unicyclists everywhere, and there is a chance you might
encounter one or more on these fora that are actually familiar with YOUR
location and could give you some very specific and valuable advice.

I have met numerous riders in the Seattle area that post here, and as a
result have logged hundreds of coker miles on some really great routes
with some really great company.

More will get you more.

Many schools have unused blacktop in the summer: playgrounds,
parkinglots and running tracks.

Church parking lots can be large and (during weekdays) are pretty empty,
too.

Sorry about the lack of details. I made it generic as I haven't met
anyone living particularly close to me at my juggling club, and I
haven't come across anyone riding locally, so I (probably wrongly)
assumed that there is nobody nearby. If by any chance there is anyone
living near Wantage, Oxfordshire (UK), then I'd love to meet up.
Cheers for the ideas. I'll give the tennis courts and car park a go.

I can really only think of two places to ride a coker: On the road, and
off the road.

I wouldn't really want to try it anywhere else.
