which carbon crank?

I've heard good things about the '07 record crank and am most interested in that one. Price really wouldn't be an issue because of deal I'd be able to get on the cranks. With that in mind which crank is the BEST?

Believe only the Record is really a CF crank, while the others are are "composite", meaning an alloy core with a CF wrapping. Maybe you can investigate further. If true, and you're wanting to "upgrade" to pure CF, Record would be it.

Concerning "best", after seeing the photos of the new Record, would bet their crankarms are stiffer. Not that it really matters on the road.

If you've already got Campy components on your Trek, and you want to blow the bucks, your obvious answer is Record....why anything else?

Yeah, I like it. It was a doddle to install. It's quiet. It confines the movement of my feet to circular paths. Zero problems. The shape of the crankarms seemed to help them slice nicely through bottom bracket deep water from monsoon rains.....

where did you get yours? I've never heard or seen them anywhere, even online.

I got 'em through Fairwheel Bikes, in Tucson. The manufacturer website is here. Be forewarned, though: the cranks are expensive ($1100 US, now, or so) and the wait time is long (around 30-ish weeks, right now.).

The cranks are all cf, except of course for the pedal inserts. They are an integrated BB design, and the BB axle is also CF (see pic below.). My crankset weighs--with Stronglight CT2 chainrings (50/36), SRM chainring bolts, and of course, the crankset--563g.

How about the Stronglight Pulsion Active Link TI? Another rare crankset; I've only seen one on the road. Killer looking crank though and extremely light!
