Hi,
I'm off to Whistler in a week. I'll be spending a couple of weeks there
with some time in Squamish and Pemberton as well.
I've got most stuff sorted, the only thing nagging at me at the moment is
tyre choice.
I'm usualy running race tyres (2.0 pythons, larsens etc) but they don't make
much sense off the race track so was thinking of something bigger and
grippier. From what I've heard the trails are rooty and the soil relatively
slippery. I hate tyre shopping and came home yesterday with a 2.30
Hutchinson Octopus and a 2.25 Hutchinson Jumbo (front and rear
respectively).
Now I'm looking at these tyres thinking they're overkill. I can replace
them but are there smaller tyres that would be just as good for the
conditions? I was thinking of the MTB park when I bought them but it seems
a bit much for a few days of riding. I'll be hiring a DH bike for a couple
of days just for fun.
I'm also thinking I'll throw in a pair of pythons as they're light and
foldable, would they be much use on the XC trails?
Also, any recomendations on Hostels? I've booked the YHA for a couple of
nights, it looks good but finding the best Hostel makes a big difference.
As far as trail recomendations go I've got a tonne of them. I won't be
running out of places to ride.
Cheers,
Duncan.
