We took our 10 year old grandson camping Thursday through
Sunday. Mind you, DH made the plans with our next door
neighbors in January, when April 1st sounded warm. NOT!!!
We used my brother's pop-up camper (I haven't been camping
in 20+ years, and NEVER in cold weather). It was cold,
rainy, cold, windy, COLD, bone chilling cold. Thank goodness
we were in a site with electricity - I brought an electric
heater and an electric blanket, which my grandson and I
cuddled under every night. (DH made the plans, DH managed in
a sleeping bag - which got wet).
Program went out the window - we ate whatever was warm and
easy. That included marshmallows and s'mores, popcorn
cooked over an open fire the final (and only) night which
was clear. I also cooked my sneakers cozying up too close
to the fire.
The bathrooms were about 1/4 of a mile UP a hill. Docks were
about the same distance down the hill (which had to be
walked UP to get back to the camper). And that's probably
the only thing that saved me at weigh in tonight. I managed
to lose 1 lb! What doesn't kill me makes me stronger,
right?!?!?! Well, I didn't have a heart attack. Just felt
like it. ;>😉
Oh - to add insult to injury - didn't catch a single fish.
Grandson caught the only fish, too small to keep.
I haven't strayed from the fireplace today, except to go to
WI.
(We really did have fun. I think.)
