2) lots of snow, sometimes 30 cm overnight.
3) temps typically -20 to -30 C most of the winter.

And .... Idiot drivers.... I will only bike if i have to this winter.

It would be a good idea to consider putting storage air into the tyres
if it's going to be out of action for longer than a couple of months.

I guess you'll just have to ski. I tried snowshoeing last year. Not
the same as riding, but what a workout!

would ride all through winter.

damn....I "like" the cold, but 20 to 30 below (C), even I'd say screw
it. I think the low teens are where I probably start to change my mind
about riding very much. layering and me and biking just don't go
together. it's a great cool weather activity but not extreme weather
unless you have a certain masochistic side. me, if I want to be in the
snow that badly, I'd be boarding over it not pedaling through it. I'd
still be nearly as cold but not miserable about it.

besides I've never had to wear goggles while MTB'ing and don't plan to
start now. by the way at what temp. (presume dry air) does shifting
stiction start to make any gear changing so difficult you just say don't
bother?? I wonder, for us non-singlespeeders.

Heck of a mess when you want to use the bike again, it'll attract dirt
like nobody's business. And definitely don't use cooking fat - yes I've
seen that done...
Why not just take off those parts and store them indoors?
I don't imagine many bikes have chrome parts these days, but I've found
chromed parts can suffer badly when stored a long time in a damp shed.

I do not know... this might be the first winter that i ride... if i dont
have a vehicle...
