wrong crank/tires on Trek 1500?

Unless you're sure you need a triple, personally I would leave it. The Ultegra crank is really good, in fact in a recent article in Ride Magazine (Australia), they tested all major cranks for stiffness and the Ultegra 9 spd cranks were rated 1st against Zipp's, FSA's, Campy's and Dura Ace. So the cranks are good. As for tires...that's a minor thing.

I would keep the Ultegra - I'm using Ultegra cranks, and even though mine are a few years old, they are a good crank. But, that's my opinion, I've never liked triple, I had them once and never really used it anyway, because I was so used to double.

I used Bontrager Select, and I found them rather sticky feeling on the road compared to Continental, which I have now changed back to - but you may as well use them until it's time for a new set.

cool, I'll keep the ultegra dual. Say im curious I was looking at the Trek UK site....why the heck r they so special that they get all ultegra components?

It's to compensate for the bad weather. Trek just felt sorry for them...😄

Where are you?? There is nothing in you location details, see USER CP at the top of page.

Then we can look up and see if they sold you the right bike or an old mpdel. Any 9 speed bike will be an old model now. http://www2.trekbikes.com/bikes/specs.php?bikeid=1442000&f=4 I would have expected to see 10 speed 105 on a 2006 Trek 1500 bike by now. :o

The Trek USA site says that the 2006 Trek 1500 comes with 9 spd.

hmm are u sure? Like Walrus said, the trek site says 9-speed. OH and i updated my info.

the UK version 1500 is 10-speed ...in fact its full ultegra too, including brakes vs USA version 9-speed 105/ultegra mix with no name brakes. But the US version is $1200 cheaper. The UK version is 1300 pounds which converts to $2416.05 U.S. to buy the US version it cost 1149.99 and most places sell it for 1099.99 or even 999.99.
