I have a Bell Ghisallo helmet. it's nice and light and lets through a lot of air, but I have a problem with all of the helmets that I've tried on--they make my tiny head look even smaller. Anybody know a particularly good helmet for tiny heads? I measure 22 1/2" round, but I look so silly with a big, bulky helmet on and I'd like to reduce that look to a minimum. Thanks.

I'm confused by your post. Helmets come in different sizes -- what size is your Ghisallo? What about getting a smaller size?

sorry for the confusion. I understand that helmets come in different sizes, but as much so, some are more bulky than others or fit differently. I'm wondering if there is a brand, or at least a particular model that is known for looking better on smaller heads. Does that clear things up, I hope? thanks for your reply.Jonathon

OK got it now. Your best bet is to try a bunch on. Limar, Bell, Giro, Loius Garnier, Specialized, etc. make fine stuff that looks fairly similar... in general to get a lighter more streamlined version you'll move towards the high end of any helmet-maker's line (in general). Or maybe you are just making to much of how you look? Or try riding faster -- harder to see your small head if you're a blur!

No doubt I'm making too big of a deal out of a small issue. @ 140lbs I'm not so fast until the hills, but then speed is relative and I'm certainly not a "blur" at that point. I've tried Bell, Giro, TREK, and louis Garneau. I've wanted to order a Limar, but I don't want to have it arrive and not like it, you know? I don't have a lot of options to choose from where I live, one LBS which carries Giro, but is picking up the Specialized line, which I haven't tried yet. I was hoping that somebody would post a reply saying, "hey check out SUCH AND SUCH a brand, it is made with people like you in mind." Like Smith Optics has a line of glasses for people with thin faces, maybe there is a helmet brand with a line for people like me. I guess I'll just keep on looking. Thanks for your help.Jonathon

I don't think you should worry about it, really. I have a giant Kibuki head and my helmet makes it look even bigger. So what.
