don't worry about what people think about you! because they aren't thinking about you

man, that is awesome. assuming it's miles, you averaged a half marathon a day.

so, are you running LA in march?

I reserve judgment on the awe until I see the details of these miles. Simply running big miles is
    just big numbers.

Probably not a fair thing to say but all those miles did not help him one lick in his last marathon.
Bad day? Too many miles? Poor quality in those miles? [censored] poor taper?

So tell us UJ what is a typical week and what does your taper look like before your marathon. And
eating fish may help your social life ... 😉

actually, i'm more impressed by his dedication. i don't care if he was doing 5 or 15 minute miles
but to get out and run 363 days is beyond me. i ran 218 days in 2003 and 85 days in 2002.

i agree with you that simply running big miles is just big numbers. that's why i don't run 100
    milers ;-)

have a great year ahead. come down to california and run the badwater or the western states 100.

    regards jobs

I'm impressed by his family's genetics. OTOH they overdosed on muscle stamina at the risk of gray
    mater to use it. 🙂

But please note I only do a single 100 in a year. That fulfills my single day distance needs.

It's kind of over and down for me. 🙂

My niece already did this and only one Badwater per family. How's that for a totally bogus excuse?
🙂 The distance does not bother me. The desert heat/cold scares the [censored] out of me and to live in
the east and train for this takes some creative measures.

Not to downplay Western States or show any disrespect to those that have run or currently going to
run it, but it's like Boston is to marathons - a very real race but more of a notch on your gun. As
far as difficulty I think it's in the bottom third. Races like Hardrock or Badwater and the
notorious Barkley make WS look like 5k.

In addition the WS100 lottery entry sucks. If you meet the qualifying standards and miss the lottery
you don't get in. There is a rule that you get in if you have missed the cut twice. This is ok as
long as you still keep your a qualifier. It's like busting you ass for Boston qualifier and the race
saying sorry try next year. Again, I'm not dumping on the race but when you only allow N slots and
N+300 want to run, you need some way to manage the entries and the lottery is about as fair as any.

I'm not that interested in playing the WS100 game when so many other races, both easier and harder,
    are wide open.

    never taper

So you go directly into your marathon off a 90+ miles a week? Wanna run faster, feel better, recover
better - try a two to three week taper!!!!

What kind of taper do you use to run a 100?
