Are you the guy that leans on his horn every second that someone is doing
something "wrong" on the road (according to what you think is "right")?
****, people like you annoy the hell out of me when I am sitting in traffic.
Its just what I want to listen to while waiting to get home, a hornblower
who leans very hard on it. I wish car companies would make cars without
horns and sell them to all the fanatical hornblowers in North America...

Your are licensed in WA? That's good to know. I like gunslingers for
friends.

Yes, it was the Sub - fully functional, just ugly now.

It's not close. Remember the states out here are big.

Seven hours or so. Depends how you gas it :)

P.S. Just had a polyurethane induced flash back (fixing the house up to
put it on the market) of the drive back from the '90 Worlds down there.
Borrowed camper died on La Veta Pass (avoiding higher passes IIRC).
Fixed it at 2:00 am with a dying flashlight and still got to work on
time the next morning.

It may be the norm, but getting on the freeway and merging with 65mph
traffic @ 35mph is just plain dangerous for everybody.

Sorry but I *do* have a tendency to blare my horn at people oblivious
to a green light. If I just "beep" it it just says "move along
please", but If I blare it it says "Pay some F'n attention to your
driving ****!" Which is what I would say to them in person. (depending
on their physical stature)

When I have to follow some dipweed onto the freeway at 35mph, I usually
just turn on my hazzards, because I don't want people to think I'm
honking @ them instead of the dork in front of me, swerve and cause an
accident @65-70 MPH.

Another thing I hate are red-light runners. Usually when I'm making a
left hand turn, and am in the middle of the intersection, waiting on a
break in oncoming traffic, there will be some a-hole who decides to
punch it when the light turns yellow. If its going to be a blatant red
light run, I usually roll down my window and let them know that they
are #1 as they pass.

Go to your DMV and find a "rules of the road" or comparable law
instruction book on driving laws. You will find in there that you are
required by law to sound your horn when you are in someone's blind
spot. It does not specify that you should sound it when you're in
someone's blindspot AND they're trying to merge into you, It jsut says
that you must sound your horn when you are in someone's blind spot.
Thank goodness we all don't follow that rule.

Finally, why isn't your music up so loud that you can't hear my horn
anyway? {:)

You have issues that need to be tended to...

You should merge and then safely change lanes. What's the big deal?

My brand new car got destroyed by a red light runner, so I sympathize with
you on that one, but why bother flipping the bird? Do you think it will
somehow instantaneously make them better drivers and follow the rules of the
road? IMO, its a waste of time...

If I go to my DMV, it will take me 5 hours to get back out. I'd rather use
those 5 hours for biking...

Resist the urge to lean on your horn. I am sure there are doctors who can
help you with that problem...

Yes, it's a third variable problem involving ignorance.

When I have to drive, I find myself wondering "who are these idiots?"
sometimes. Now I know.

Please elaborate. Ignorance? So the idiot is the person who honks
their horn to alert another person that they

Are stopped at a green light,

Are going to merge into someone else's vehicle

Are generally driving unsafe.

The person who honks at those people are the idiots? I fail to follow
the logic. I know it irritates you to hear someone honk, but that's
alot less irritating than being in an accident, or having traffic
filtered down to one lane to get around the accident causing you to
take much more time to get to your destination.

Not licensed in WA, (although I joined their Trial Lawyers Ass'n before
most of the kids around here were even born, go figure) but I still
know some junk yard dogs in Spokane. My fave is Russell Van Camp.

Keep a detailed daily diary of how the accident has affected you, in
terms of pain, diminished activity, less time w/hubby, gardening,
riding, sleeping, etc., etc., and it will all pay off when you go to
make a demand for your pain and suffering. Goes for everybody that was
in the car with you.

You should see a dictionary or better learn the terms you throw around.
honking a horn is not road rage, firing a couple rounds at the person
would be road rage, following them to their destination to kick their
ass would be road rage, tagging their car with a paintball gun would be
road rage, tailgating, or swoop and squatting would be road rage,
purposely using bright headlights behind someone would be road rage,
honking the horn to get someones attention is not road rage.

phobias are irrational FEARS. I am in no way afraid of homos, in fact
I'm less afraid of them than straight people. Someone coming up to you
and saying "jeepers" in an extremely feminine voice does not illicit
the "fight or flight" response it illicits the "laugh my ass of on the
inside and try not to show it on the outside" response. Furthermore I
do not hold contempt for homos, I just see them as malfunctioning
humans, the same as blind people, deaf people, downs syndrome people,
schizophrenics, retards etc. I do not look down on these people, I
understand that their physiology is malfunctioning at no fault of their
own. Furthermore, the person who can't see a green light for 30
seconds obviously is malfunctioning. (ADD perhaps?)

That would work great if there were no other cars on the freeway that I
need to merge into, but that is rarely the case.

I'm going 35 (because I'm behind someone going 35). there are two
lanes on the freeway, both full of traffic going 65 MPH. The amazingly
designed on-ramps in idaho do not parallel the freeway as a 3rd lane at
all, they dump directly into the rightmost of the 2 lanes (which people
are driving 65-70 mph in. (I'm sure when they see the slow people
coming they would try to go to the left lane, but probably can't
because its full of traffic as well). I should merge? I needed to be
going an additional 30 mph to safely merge. To merge @ 35 then speed
up, I need much more space between the vehicles already on the freeway
traveling at freeway speeds.

I'm hoping it will make them feel like jack asses i guess. It makes me
feel better. Plus if you hold your arm out the window a ways, everyone
else at the intersection sees it which should (hopefully) add to their
embarrassment. Eventually all intersections will have red-light
cameras, and the red light runners will get what's coming to them.

temptation to drive.

Yeah I can imagine with all the airport traffic, although I think
people coming from larger cities where freeways are more common, don't
have this problem. It seems to be the Idahoans I'm usually stuck
behind. I get on @ broadway, and its an "adventure" every single time.

I just landed a sweet job ($50/hr) back in AZ, so I'm moving there next
week. Just when I was thinking I was going to be embarrassed that my
wife was going to be making 100k+ in dentistry and I wouldn't be making
as much. The job requires a lot of driving however. And so much for
my "stay at home dad" plans.

You seem very concerned with safety.
Maybe you could wait until it's safe and merge then.

Idaho's gain, Arizona's loss. When I get over to PHX this Winter to
ride, I'll make sure to give every middle age crisis doof I see on a
shiny bike a hefty kick off of the trail as I blaze by them. Then
again, this particular doof would never be on the trails I enjoy there
and if he did venture to them, would probably do a good job of injuring
himself with improper equipment and a complete lack of skills.
