The Thread about Nothing....

Crikey, the Red Bull team looks like it's going to implode. Who would have thought a driver's dad would have so much influence?

Has anyone finished watching the latest season of Drive To Survive?

Yep, finished it last weekend. I'm a bit "meh" about DTS these days, I reckon the first series was probably the best although they seem to be trying to get back to that format in the current series.

As for Jos Verstappen, the consensus amongst those who know more about these things than I do, is that he is a tool.

Yeah, I guessed as much. Jos probably belongs in the Sporting Parents Hall Of Fame with other legends like Damir Dokic.

And yeah, it's getting a bit repetitive. I think Netflix is doing a good job, but how many times do we hear "mode push" and "push push"? And the interviews with the drivers are so un spontaneous. Sigh.... feeling nostalgic for days of yore...

I felt sorry for Pierre Gasly in Season One, he was obviously suffering from bad performance anxiety but these days he's an arrogant ****. Yuki is a brat.

Agree they both need a good slap.

A couple of obvious points dawned on me: peds are apparently very easy to buy in Spain, and doping in amateur racing is probably much more widespread because there's usually fark-all testing
Yes (lots of pros, at least in the past, would buy dope over the counter in Spain) and yes, at least for **** like roids and amphetamines.

Does anyone in Europe bang on about doping in cycling anymore or is it only when a Brit or American are winning all the races that we need to bring up doping?

The sport can't recover from this.

He was flipping a snowmobile or something.

His daughter Lia is racing in the F1 Academy. No great results at this point but I believe it’s her first season in single seaters.

Yes, it's somewhat ironic that, despite doing ten billion dangerous things in cars at high speed, he was killed doing something that I assume is less dangerous. It's a bit like how Brock had his worse injury rolling a go kart

Anyone have any goss on the Rohan Dennis saga? I note that the Police have gone for a long investigative extention from the court. I find this interesting. Its not an unusual tactic but a tactic nonetheless. It tells me that a) no one is talking (yet) and b) they dont like/trust Rohan and want to extend the pressure on him.

If this was an accident then the families would be all talking to each other and statements would have been made by all parties. You certainly wouldnt have the Police claiming 6 months to reconstruct a driveway incident that they could realistically do within 2 weeks.

Then there is the other peculiarity whereby Dennis walks to court alone. Either that is a massive own goal by his defence counsel or a reflection of the fact none of his own family want to stand behind him. Perhaps those antics are saved for when the court case proper commences. Not a great look in the court of public opinion though.

Edit: The author has made no effort whatsoever to research the factual nature of any of the above commentary - in keeping with traditional professional media reporting.

Apart from that one time that he died doing Targa West.

No gossip, but I don't think delays are unusual. The neighbours son was banged up for nearly 18 months before getting bailed. Found not guilty in court. In fact, the judge turfed out the most serious charges.
