Bike Rental in the town of Reading?

Hello everyone, it has been ages since I have been able to read/post on
this newsgroup. The new operating system on my Macintosh can't be
configured properly.

I have such gratitude to all of you, first, for the idea that the best
way out of Southampton was through Hythe, and second for information
about cycling over the bridge near LeHavre.

Since learning about the Hythe Ferry in 2003 every time we have arrived
in Southampton by ship we have taken the ferry and started our journeys
through the New Forest. We have stayed in Hythe each time we have
sailed out of Southampton and, have made the acquaintance of one of the
engineers on the pier train.

This will be the first time the tandem will not be with us, as a matter
if fact this is the first time Captaintandem will not be staying in the
UK and traveling with me. I will be staying in Reading and would
welcome any leads on where to rent/borrow a bicycle.

Thanks in advance,

You could try asking AW Cycles in Caversham. I have _no idea_ if they do
rentals, but with the demise of Freewheel they are the nearest good
quality bike shop.

I guess you have Safari as a browser. Try <mappy.co.uk> or
<multimap.com> either should give you a route.

Thanks for the reply and for the information. I had tried to look on the
web to see if anyone was advertising rentals but no luck so far. The
newsgroup has been such a good source of information.

Actually I stopped reading Usenet when I had to use the Google
interface. I always preferred the text only format of my old Newsreading
software. I hadn't been able to connect to my local ISP using
Newsreader. On my HP Laptop the text version works fine with Mozilla
Thunderbird.

I love maps (must have something to do with being the stoker/navigator
all these years. I've got to take a look at mappyc.co.uk.

Thanks
