I'm putting together a bike for my wife. A couple of weeks ago I bought a (used) set of wheels - rigida dp18 with veloce hubs. Yesterday I bought a Campagnolo record 8s cassette, all the sprockets fit fine, except the lockring is too big. I read something about 29 mm and 26 mm lockrings but I'm not sure that this is actually the problem I'm facing. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanx.

Best regards,

Gertjan

Is the freehub body black and steel or silver and aluminum??

If silver, really shouldn't put the 8s cogs onto it, as they don't grab much metal. If a steel one,
then perhaps you do have the wrong lock ring. The one you need for a steel freehub body is 29mm the
diameter of the threads.

-The freehub body is silver and aluminum

-I don't really follow what you're saying. The sprockets fit well around the freehub body.

Any suggestions as to what to do?

Thanx.

You have a 9/10s freehub body. Altho the 8s cogs will go onto the freehub body, the splines of the
cogs are not deep enough to make it useable. You should get loose Campagnolo 9s cogs(like Veloce)
and then use either black Campagnolo 8s spacers in it or Wheels manufaturing red spacers.
OR..convert you lever to 9s and get a 9s cogset and chain.
