While David Millar is perhaps best known for his impressive palmares — as well as some other more dubious moments in his racing career — he is also known as one of the more dapper riders to enter the pro peloton. Perhaps that’s why Castelli has teamed up with the Scotsman to create new clothing line called Chpt. III.
Millar’s line is inspired by the former pro’s desire for a less busy kit that’s comfortable yet still race-inspired. High-end riders who aren’t necessarily racing anymore but still appreciate the finer aspects of high-end clothing will likely appreciate the new concept line that will be released in late September.
With a stated mission to avoid sacrificing style for speed, Castelli hopes to create a line that combines elegant styles in the vein of a bespoke, tailored look. While that may sound a bit nose-in-the-air to some riders, the clothing line has the potential to be a refreshing change from loud colors, busy patterns, and logo-strewn team kits that dominate the sport. If nothing else, riders who prefer a race cut rather than a sport cut might appreciate the subdued colors and designs combined with a more snug fit.
Shorts, jersey, water-resistant and windproof rocka, base layer, knee and leg warmers, arm warmers, and socks will all be available within the Chpt. III line. Standout features include a one-piece constructed bib short, button snaps on the jersey collar, a storm flap pocket on the front of the jersey for a phone, and a button-collar jacket for an added touch of custom style.
