Paladin said:Well, part of my 20 mi night ride tonight involved some road riding.
I really hate pavement, (as some of you know) and was reminded again
why tonight.
I was crossing a street at a light and passed a jeep that honked this
big-ass "AAAWOOGA" horn right in front of me as I passed, and the
little red-neck driver leaned out the window and yelled at me to fall
over.
So I did what any self-respecting civilized gentleman would do. I
pulled over as soon as I could, dropped my bike, grabbed a short 2x4
that I found in the bushes, and yelled at him to pull over! He drove
off. Probably a good thing, since I rarely look back on losing my
temper and think, gee, what a wise move that was.
O well, I'm just not used to dodging idiots and swallowing the load of
[censored] roadies have to eat every day.

You remind me a little of my brother, at least as far as temperament goes.
Funny thing is, he really is a roadie. I'm just glad he hasn't been run
over, beaten, or shot yet. I'm blessed with a lot of patience, so in that
respect I'd be OK as a roadie. I even actually do a few real road rides
every year, although it's not my preferred type of riding. It's usually just
what I have to make do with when I can't be on dirt for some reason
(weather, injury, pressure from wife, etc).
Just try to remember that a cool head will prevail, and a hot head might get
you into trouble (including being killed). It's not like you're wrong to get
mad, but it generally doesn't help the situation and I think is best
avoided. If you stay cool, you might be able to get a plate number and get
them into some real trouble. That can be satisfying and generally carries a
lot less risk.
Be cool,
Matt
