Ok,
So what Horner has been known to whine a bit.
Maybe he has an annoying voice.
Perhaps that beard from the Prime Alliance days was illegal.
Quizas 'freckels' son malas.
BUT!
For crit pro to say, "Horner sucks it up" and "Could only manage 50th"
and "I could do better" is a f-ing joke.
8th in the world championships. 11th today in Lombardy. First group
and top finisher from his DI team at Paris Tours (a flat sprinter's
race-he's no field sprinter) Total domination in the US.
And this after a season of doing short races by European standards.
Tell me one other US based guy who can do 100km crits and 110-115mi
RR's in the US, then seamlessly transition to 140mi World Cup and
World Championship races in Europe (and get top 15 placings)?
Crit pro needs his head examined.
i don't know who the guy is, but I would bet that Horner has won more
US NRC crits than he could ever dream of.
I also want to point out the udder lunacy of another crit pro-ism....
When he said that he could race in Europe, but he makes $3-5k a month
on the US crit scene.... That statement is [censored].
1st... If he is a DIII pro, chances ar that he aint getting a salary.
2nd... There are roughly only 1-2 $10,000 NRC crits per month in the
US throughout the season. 8-9mo season. I am looking at the NRC list
right now and I count roughly 18-22 $10,000 crits over the course of
the season. Avg payout for 1st place in one of those is $1,200-1,400.
Let's call the purse at your avg local/regional crit $2500, say $500
to win... (most aren't that good)
So crit pro would have us believe that he wins or gets second at 2 NRC
crits per month, plus wins 2+ regional crits with a least a $3000
purse per month.
That would get you (after splits) about $3500 a month. THERE IS NO ONE
ON THE US CRIT SCENE THAT IS THAT DOMINATE. That's IF his DIII team
could afford to send him to every NRC crit on the schedule (unlikely).
Now, please don't take this as a snipe against OFOTO, cause I am a
hard working Cat.1 privateer and I have nothing but respect for the
guys who are that one (small) step above me. If he really does ride
for OFOTO, as some here have alleged... OFOTO hasn't won an NRC event
once this year, much less every NRC held since the beginning of the
season. That is pretty much what one would have to do to secure $4000
a mo in prive money for the entire season, and that isn't even avging
it out over the entire year.
The minimum salary domestique in europe on a DI or DII team is making
more money than crit pro.
Ok, rant off. I am a first time poster-sporatic reader.
