Holy Moley, that's a metric [censored] of supplements. Some of the
vitamins and minerals may be very helpful with your nutrition, but
I don't know that any are proven to help weight loss over amounts in
typical multis. Chromium, for instance, (which you didn't mention),
is often touted in ads as a weight loss aid, but in medical studies
it only helps weight loss if you're deficient in it, and contrary to
the ads claiming most folks are, most aren't.
But I can tell you unequivically that Garcinia Cambogia (aka
hydroxycitric acid, Citrimax, brindall berry, and "hydroxagen"
in Hydroxycuts), although sold in a lot of weight loss products,
was proven to be no better than placebo for weight loss in 3 or
4 medical studies in the last few years. It's only claim to fame
was that it reduced weight *gain* (not fat gain) in growing rats
in a study some 20 years ago. So for stunting the growth of rats,
it became a "weight loss aid".
Licorice root, AFAIK, is merely a laxative and a diuretic, but lots of
laxative and diuretic herbs are traditional ingredients of bullsh*t
weight loss products. Losing an extra pound from peeing and pooping
seem to be a major tactic in most snakeoil diet pills. MetaboLife,
for example, had about a dozen diuretic and laxative herbs in it,
along with a weak ephedra/caffeine stack).
AFAIR, L-carnitine does cause weight loss in rodents, but through
metabolic pathways that humans don't have. IIRC, it causes some
sort of muscle fluid "plumping", in humans, making bodybuilders
look a little more buff, but isn't known to help weight loss.
