But to speed up the process surely there have got to be weight loss
supplements on the market that can help..I have been comparing them
and most are similar. To me then the real choice is the price..

These are some of the supplements that I take that seem to help with weight
loss/overall health. I do not suggest that anyone take any supplements without
doing the proper research on them and then deciding whether they are
    appropriate for their body.

    Calcium-Magnesium Complex - 1000 mg
    Vitamin C - 1000 mg
    CoQ10 - 100 mg
    Antioxidant Optimizer (multi)
    Chelated zinc - (Calcium - 60 mg & Zinc - 22 mg)
    Folic Acid - 800 mcg
Alpha Lipoic Acid - 50 mg
    Biotin - 300 mcg
    L-Carnitine Tartrate - 1000 mg
    Conjugated Linoleic Acid - 1 g
    Bitter Melon - (fruit extract - 150 mg & fruit - 350 mg)
Horse Chestnut - (horse chestnut seed extract - 257 mg & butcher's broom root -
    100 mg & rutin - 50 mg)
    Butcher's Broom - 200 mg
    Garcinia Cambogia - 700 mg
    Fenugreek - 500 mg
    Bromelain - 500 mg
    Inositol & Choline (Inositol - 400 mg & Choline - 400 mg)
    Licorice Root - 450 mg
Green Tea Extract - 500 mg
    5HTP - 200 mg

  2. Holy Moley, that's a metric [censored] of supplements. Some of the
vitamins and minerals may be very helpful with your nutrition, but
I don't know that any are proven to help weight loss over amounts in
typical multis. Chromium, for instance, (which you didn't mention),
is often touted in ads as a weight loss aid, but in medical studies
it only helps weight loss if you're deficient in it, and contrary to
the ads claiming most folks are, most aren't.

But I can tell you unequivically that Garcinia Cambogia (aka
hydroxycitric acid, Citrimax, brindall berry, and "hydroxagen"
in Hydroxycuts), although sold in a lot of weight loss products,
was proven to be no better than placebo for weight loss in 3 or
4 medical studies in the last few years. It's only claim to fame
was that it reduced weight *gain* (not fat gain) in growing rats
in a study some 20 years ago. So for stunting the growth of rats,
it became a "weight loss aid".

Licorice root, AFAIK, is merely a laxative and a diuretic, but lots of
laxative and diuretic herbs are traditional ingredients of bullsh*t
weight loss products. Losing an extra pound from peeing and pooping
seem to be a major tactic in most snakeoil diet pills. MetaboLife,
for example, had about a dozen diuretic and laxative herbs in it,
along with a weak ephedra/caffeine stack).

AFAIR, L-carnitine does cause weight loss in rodents, but through
metabolic pathways that humans don't have. IIRC, it causes some
sort of muscle fluid "plumping", in humans, making bodybuilders
look a little more buff, but isn't known to help weight loss.

Yeah, it's quite a bit. I don't take them all daily, I kind of cycle them and
take breaks periodically from taking anything at all just to be safe. I do know
that my blood tests have all come back with fantastic results after starting
supplementation. Prior to supplementation I was almost diabetic even while
keeping a low carb diet, now I am well into the normal range and do not take
any prescription medications anymore. I don't advocate that anyone take such a
cocktail of supplements without doing enormous amounts of research and really
monitoring themselves with a doctor's supervision.
