Well, maybe I got something wrong, but are not you (according to 2PD)
supposed to weight your pasta AFTER cooking (that is after rehydratation,
    sort of)?

    Mirek

You weigh hot tea with cream and sugar? Or do you weigh just the cream
and the sugar? What about soda? Do you weigh that? Hmmm...two "pounds"
of soda a day -- I wonder what a bottle of soda weighs.

All of your answers are on the website in plain english even Mirek can
read. When you have demonstrated that you can read them, then the
    discussion will begin again.

    Yes.

    No.

But that doesn't make sense. Why can you drink unsweetened tea with no
limit but once you add cream and sugar you are weighing the entire
solution? The weight of the zero calorie tea shouldn't count against
your daily allotment once other items are added - it should only be the
items that add calories that are monitored.

Here is an area where Andrew and I disagree but only in one respect. I deal
with a better educated crowd for the most part, his patients are mostly
blue collar. As the education level decreases, the simpler the better.

I no longer weigh my food, stopped after about 6 weeks. Works for me, might
not work for Joe the Yardman. The average adult client I have is college
level educated. His probably struggled to get out of high school.

I authored the term The Simple Two Pound Diet (mixed with An ounce Of
Common Sense). Andrew never took that phrase on and I agree, for him it
wouldn't work. It works for me and mine.

Point being, when I ate pasta, I did not weigh the water. I understood that
the watered pasta increased the volume of the food but I literally
understood that. I knew it was a modification but it was a modification I
was capable of accounting for. In the end, I went from 205ish to 155ish and
increased my overall, useable strength dramatically.

I don't think that my cardiologist was all too upset about this
    modification either.

What's not so funny is that I got injured and a couple of operations were
necessary. My weight and strength dwindled to 144. When I came free of
travel and duty, I knew it was time to get back to eating (I was eating
about 1 pound per day and there were many days I never ate anything). When
the "exit tube" was highly dysfunctional, the desire to eat at all slides
downhill like a rock on a glacier.

Now I am up to 160ish and need to drop a few pounds, back to the gym
regularly. It will be gone by mid Jan if not before. I know what I have to
do and it comes very easily now.

I concur. "Where's the book?" "What, only a website?" It's like if it isn't
complicated, it won't work. Hence we see all this in depth, in extreme
detail conversation going on about dieting. Same with strength training.
until you get to athletes (and athletic injury), I have a motto that turns

    Yes, it appears so.

I feel so sorry for the obese but I also recognize that many ppl who fool
around looking to find the max, the upper limit of what they can eat, are
really only playing a game with themselves. They haven't actually committed
to weighing less or they have fooled themselves into thinking they have.

It's rampant especially in the low carb groups who are oh so happy about
having to keep a bunch of [censored] in their diets. "Yay, pork skins and <insert
fat filled meat>!" Atkins has really sold out and they have bought in.

I picked up Ornish today. I think he sold out when he took a cardiac
disease reversing diet and went mainstream with it. That's a cookbook. Over
400 pages and only 50 have any substance. The rest are menus and cooking
guides. Pastorio should have written it.

And the title. "Eat More, Weigh Less." What a tool he turned out to be.

After a while, you just know how much something weighs because it is
exactly the same as the one you had yesterday or last week. I don't
weigh my breakfast every day because it is usually the same. (If
different I might weigh it.) I didn't weigh yesterday's breakfast but
I did weigh today's (for you) but don't worry, yesterday's weighed the
    same.

Another factor is that after you've been doing this for a while, you
know what a 15 oz dinner feels like in you belly as you eat it. If
you eat slowly, enjoying it as it deserves, you give yourself time to
feel this and you more or less automatically know when dinner ought to
    be over.

So I confess to not weighing _everything_ anymore. But I still know
that I'm in the right ball park. The digital food scale continues to
reside on top of the counter by where we serve our plates.

That is not a problem I was addressing. Micheal just explained that he does
weight pasta uncooked and was "accounting" for it.

OK, this of course does make sense, but in fact, when there is any
"opposition" against 2PD thing, it is always about water content of food.

not be linear unless they are best served by a one way only process.

Nor should you. One of the problems that forces dieters off other diet
plans, in droves, is this constant counting, tracking etc. Aside from the
high inaccuracy of counting cals or carbs, it's downright annoying, time
    consuming and, eventually, counterproductive.

Then you have to read a book like Atkins which stresses Life Science
    degreed ppl to understand.

I hear ppl on asdl-c all the time who claim to understand it. Bullhockey.
They pull out what they *can* understand which is the basics of counting
