  1. I ordered a set of leg warmers from them and they charged my credit
card at the time of the order. It's now two weeks later and they still
    haven't shipped them.

The guy that answers the phone is an a-hole who could care less about
customer service. He said their policy is to charge your card
immediately - no matter when they ship the item.

Yours is the first complaint I can ever recall. I am going to guess that
there is more to this story.

Checking via Google's clunkified Usenet "access," it appears there was
a complaint by one David Jones in 1999 although it was not a complaint
abot being ripped off but instead a rant about his own confusion.

Two complaints on r.b.m. in six years. That's pretty darned good.

  5. First, posting on this newsgroup won't help. You simply should ask for
the manager/owner and see what the problem is. Companies make mistakes
and they have been a great retailer for many years so it could just be
    a simple issue.
Posting here just aggravates the situation and does nothing but hurt
    everyone's reputation.

True; though in this case the responses offered by third parties amount
to more than just "one side of the story". And, in lieu of a direct
response from the concerned vendor, they can contribute to determining
the weight one should attribute to the original post.

In this case, a prospective patron of Bulltek should be reassured if he
considers the sources of the responses.

I've done business with Javier in the past and while sometimes they aren't
the fastest, they've always delivered what I ordered. I still have a
Bottecchia I bought from him about 10 years ago.

  11. I have been a vendor to Xavier and his family for almost 15 years. He is by
far the most honest genuine individual I have come across in this business.
Bulltek does not suck, you do.

  13. Easy Tom, I don't doubt your experience with Xavier, but the poster placed an order 2 weeks ago, was charged and the item has not been shipped. He is at least owed a decent explanation. Xavier himself probably has nothing to do with this transaction anyway.

Also, if you tell people "you suck" and "Best Regards" in the same email/post, I am afraid of your lesser regards.

This is true, but you should post the whole story. It should include
as many details possible, including what you have done to try to get the
problem fixed. Misunderstandings occur all the time. When someone posts
this type of accusation without any details, it only makes them look bad.
Especially when it is against a vendor who has a good reputation.

    I agree.

Or tell the guy he is pissing you off and you don't feel he is being
helpful. He will probably apologize and say he is having bad day. Original
poster did not try hard to fix the prob, and takes the easy way out slamming
    a reputable business.

Wait a minute - if you want your parts RIGHT NOW you go to your local bike
shop and pay the price. If you are looking for strange, unusual or cheaper
priced parts then you put up with the occassional inconvenience that
    business by mail affords.

Many small businesses advertise goods that are on distant order or which
they can get fairly rapidly. They don't stock everything they advertise.
That's what distributors are for. For instance, I can't get the sort of
cross brakes I want locally unless I want to wait for 2-3 weeks or possibly
more while the local shop builds up enough requests for stuff from the
distributor to make it worth his while to put in an order. Otherwise
shipping expense may cost more than the profit he'd make selling it for list
price. And if he sold it for enough to make a profit some jerk here would
scream that he was ripping them off.

  17. Hey Folks,

I'm sure that Bulltek is a reputable business, and Xavier is a nice guy and
all, but to think a rant should just be ignored is a mistake.

As someone who works in the Customer Service industry, I know that any
feedback (good or bad) should not be ignored. For every one 'rant' which
appears, there is probably 10 others who don't bother to speak up, and the
business owner may never be aware that his processes need to be reviewed,
and his representative evaluated. Turning a blind eye is always a mistake,
and will surely lead to lost revenue with each 'rant' that comes along.

I say this because I'm an example. I'll throw my two cents in, and let
others make their own decisions. Bulltek lost my business because of
    incompetence and unprofessional behavior.

I attempted to purchase a pair of Maxxis cross tires which where advertised
before the holidays. I called and ordered by phone. The person was
unprofessional and rushed me off the phone but got my credit card info for
the order and assured me the order would be placed. Two weeks went by and
no tires. I had other tires for the cross races and life went on. My wife
decided she would look into it in order to purchase the tires as a Christmas
gift. She called, told the rep what happened with my order. (Keep in mind
I'm hearing about this after Christmas from my wife) My wife said the rep
was rude and unempathic to the situation, but stated would take the order
and make sure it's done this time. She agreed as she wanted to obtain the
gift for the holiday. Over a week later and no tires. She called and the
rep stated no order was placed. She declined to place another order.
Instead, she saw a Maxxis banner ad on a website a bought the tires from
Maxxis and had them in less than a week. She paid more than Bulltek, but
obviously price wasn't the issue. Trust and confidence was. And I got a
    free Beenie to boot!

Looking back on the issue, I could take some responsibility in saying I
could have wrote down the name of the rep and went back to the manager. But
honestly I did not have time during the busy holidays to deal with the
issue. I want hassle-free shopping. Instead, I just took my business
elsewhere. If I wanted advice, I'd go to my LBS. Like most of you; when I
want a product, I search Google and view the newsgroups to find and purchase
it. The price took me to Bulltek, but their Customer Service drove me away
    and lost my business.

And now I have the aniexty that my credit card info is out there, waiting to
be used inappropriately. The card was never charged, but to ease my
conscience I may cancel the card just to be sure.

I won't go as far as to say Bulltek sucks, but Xavier certainly needs to
review what's happening at the point of sale to ensure that customers are
satisfied, and prevent others from posting more 'rants'.

I also had a negative experience with BUlltek and it was their customer
service. A few times, I inquired about "sale" items that were listed on the
website. They never seemed to have any of the items. I was a bit
suspicious, but went ahead and ordered a set of tights from them. I waited
quite a while and never got any shipment information. I don't remember if I
emailed or called, but when I inquired as to the status of my order, I
recieved a very brusque response. I finally did recieve the tights, but I
will not do business with someone who sends no shipment confirmation and is
rude when you inquire about the status of your order.
