I was being a bit facetious in my response, but, I have thought along these
lines in a more serious manner. I start with the idea that it's obvious that
medical science seems to get things wrong on a regular basis. Some things
that they "know" seem to have too many exceptions to be right.
Smoking, as an example, is supposed to cause a number of health problems.
Yet, there are many examples of long term smokers who suffer none of them.
What I like best is hearing "My grandma died from smoking. She was 92." ...
people who are 92 stand a pretty good chance of dying no matter what they do
or did.
Another example is Heart Attacks/Heart Health. If you eat the wrong food, it
will clog your arteries and you'll have a heart attack. Yet, people who eat
the "right" food often end up with very clogged arteries and die of heart
attacks. Likewise, some people with *awful* diets often live well into their
80's or 90's. People can have a number of tests and be declared in good
health, then drop dead days later.
I think, when it comes to the human body and health, we know a little bit,
but there is much much more where we really just don't have a clue.
