And how exactly are you gonna enforce this little tirade of yours? Let me give you some sage advice: "The trick is not minding that it hurts."

Jokes in bad taste are one thing, but the obscenity is the Congress and Bush Bros. involving themselves in the case of a vegetative woman when there are so many pressing social and economic problems causing suffering to the weakest in our society and the world. IMO your response is nonsense. I think it was poor law that would never stand up under judicial review, but that particular point of view endorsed by the hasty law was hardly unique to low-church Protestants. There are a couple of neo-pagans in our UU church that happen to agree with the attempt - probably the first time they agreed with anything that Bush has done.
I think she is essentially dead. OTOH it is difficult to fault people for trying to keep her alive if their assumption is that she is not dead. After all these years, I don't think one more (or two) judicial reviews will hurt anyone.

Your response was actually the first time I saw what Brian wrote -- my successful troll of him was gratification enough. Christians are hardly unified in their position on life issues as they apply in this case. Generalizations such as Mr. Lafferty has made are right up there with the anti-Semitic spam we've been seeing here lately. He knows better.

Bob, It's not a matter of balls, but of brains. I doubt most people here even read MonkeyBoy's [censored], and most of those that do see it for what it is....a troll. I've always thought you'd be among the group that would understand that. So why do you still read his [censored], and take it seriously enough to let it [censored] you off? [censored], dude, you did exactly what he wanted you to, and by doing so, have become part of the problem.

Conservatives, on the other hand, are supposed to "get government off the people's backs" and therefore strive for minimal government involvement. True conservatives would butt out and allow the legally responsible parties to make their own decisions without interference.

Happy to see that you went for the counter troll. Of course Christians such as your self who claim true godhood for the man called Jesus, aren't at all biased or bigoted, are they? . But at least you're somewhat tolerant of your non-christian brethren which is more than we can say for the christian right that has taken over the Republican Party, correct Reverend?
Happy Osiris Day! Pick your redemption myth and party on.

I agree that it is a poor law. The Federal District Court decision was lovely. However, this entire show has been made possible by the "Christian" Right and their anti-abortion minons who have funded the parents case. Polls have consistenly shown that about 80% of the US public beleives that Congress and the President have no business involving themselves in this family matter.

At some point it all has to end. The woman's treating neurologist has stated that MRIs show that her brain has shrunk, that her cerebral cortex is now in a liquid state and that her brain waves are completely flat. This is not simply about one or two more judicial reviews. The case was litigated long and well in the Florida State Court system. That said, her parents have now had three, not one or two, more judicial reviews (Federal DC; 11th Circuit Ct. of Appeals; Supreme Court) all of which concluded that they have no substantial likelihoodof prevailing on the merits. This has more to do with the parents' and siblings nerosis/delusions than anything else.

You have to dig for it but there has been a fairly significant backlash form the conservative/libertarian/small government wing against all this [censored]. Most of the group should enjoy this. Bush is killing the Republican party for years to come. He's sticking it to the military, veterans, sportsmen, animal welfare types, moderate conservationists, small government advocates, fiscal conservatives and on and on.... Bill C

So, Tim, what's better, one Federal law or 50 States laws at odds with each other?

Terri Schiavo hasn't had an MRI nor a PET in her life. But somehow you've found that she not only has but that they've demonstrated that she is dead.

In general, I'd prefer 130 million adults making rational decisions. And they don't all have to be the same decision. As a country, we don't seem to be much into making rational decisions, but that's because we believe we aren't responsible for making our own decisions. The government is supposed to remove all the bumps and sharp corners for us. Make everything safe so we can avoid risks and decisions. So if we run into a sharp corner, it's someone else's fault. We'll sue!
