  1. You can tell I am retaining water. My ankles look like they did when I was
on bedrest with highblood preasure with my chunk boy. Any tips for getting
the water to go away before weigh in on tuesday?

Asparagus is a natural diuretic. I eat a lot of it when its that TOM or I
    eat too much salt.
I started doing this when I was 19 or 20 after I paid an over the counter
diuretic I read the ingredents and it was mostly asparagus.

Drinking lots of water is also suppose to help.

I just did a search and found this:

    http://www.behealthy.com/naturalh.html

    <copy & paste>
    DIURETIC
Use asparagus as diuretic. Cucumber is probably the most natural diuretic
known. It is the vegetable equivalent of watermelon.

Try: garlic, dandelion root, kelp, alfalfa, parsley, watermelon, watermelon
seed tea (a recipe and instructions are contained "Living Food Lifestyle"😉,
lemon juice, reduce the intake of salt and eliminate coffee. Use only sea
salt. Additionally, fresh raw foods are helpful to eliminate excessive
floods from the body. The water in vegetables is about as pure as you can
    get.
    </copy & paste>

Hah...caffeine is a diuretic and some people drink tea as a diuretic because
of this. I wonder why you should eliminate coffee.

this is also a neat site

    Good luck,

  3. Recent studies have shown caffeine in any form causes blood sugar spikes
unless taken on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after meals).
I take Dandelion Root in capsule form. It works well and won't deplete
    electrolytes.

Hah thanks for the info I don't know anything about coffee past how to make
it for my boss. I never touch the stuff because not only do I hate the taste
(I do love the smell), but it hurts my stomach I also get bad jitters and
heart burn from coffee... Needless to say I only have tea as a treat every
now and then. due to the caffeine. BTW I'm a water drinker I dont drink diet
soda or drink mixes so any kind of caffeine after 2-3 pm will keep me up all
    night.

When most people think about potassium, they think bananas. Actually,
most fruit and vegetables have a higher potassium to sodium ratio. One of
the problems of eating refined food products, is the high sodium and low
potassium content, which is reversed to what we need. Natural foods contain
these elements closer to what the body needs at a ratio of about 2 to 1
(potassium and sodium). Here's a list of some of the common vegetables that
are known for their higher potassium content: Asparagus, bell peppers,
broccoli, cauliflower, celery, avocado, spinach, and tomatoes. There are
more of course, but they're getting into the higher carb count as well, like
squashes, corn, and potatoes. Hope this helps.

Well that explains it. I had cut back on my broccoli consumption... Still
eating lots of veggies but in salads without broccoli... the swelling did
start after that...It is a bit better today.. woke up 3 lbs lighter.. will
include either broccoli or cauliflower with dinner.. Thanks🙂

Be aware that your water retention may be due to other medical or drug
factors. Eating healthy to obtain proper electrolyte balance is good, but
may not be the answer to your problem. It is normal to have some daily
fluctuation. Several pounds though, indicates a more serious cause.

I tend to fluctuate durring my TOM but this month I was fine until the last
day.. swelling showed up then..I know it will go away but it is hard to see
myself with an additial 10 lbs... it cut my weight loss in half.. trying
verry hard not to ruin the diet for myself.

Well, at least you know you will lose that water in a couple of days and
it isn't a fat gain. I can't speak from experience as to whether you can
gain less water during TOM by diet alone. Well, 'hope it's gone by weigh-in
