Does anyone have suggestions for what should be included in vitamins
to cover all the bases more thoroughly than a standard multivitamin?

Too many nutrients to list here. A good run down:

Jack, have you run your diet past Fitday and seen what it says about your
    micronutrient levels?

Why would it be? It's very good info regardless.

    BJ,

I am suspicious too. That's why I posted:

"... I got one pertinent reply, referring me to a commerical
product.." The suggestion and site www.lef.org refers me to some $100
a month vitamins. IMHO, it makes expensive yellow [censored]. :-)))

No it does not. I have found many diabetics are diabetic because of
stupid attitudes like that. There are stacks and stacks of studies that
show various compounds (be it vitamin, mineral, fatty acid, etc, etc)
can greatly Improve the diabetic state, due to reduced oxidative stress,
improve glucose disposal, and so on. You wanted a solid answer and some
direction, and you were so given it.

    Rephrasing my original question:

I had much muscle weakness and fatigue for the week or so before I
took the simple over the counter multi-vitiamin.

Is there anything missing or in too low a quantity for a 50 year old
type-2 diabetic wanting to add muscle in the gym? I'm very healthy
with the exception of well controlled type-2 diabetes.

The question was answered, repeating it (because you don't appear to
like the answer) wont change that reality.

IMHO it means you dont know anything about vitamins, nor how the human
body uses them. On the learning curve you are at the beginning so dont
be so brash to think you know it all when you dont. You asked some
questions and people are giving you answers which you think are ads -
they are EXAMPLES of what you should be taking instead of the possibly
cheap over the counter brand of vitamin you chose. Not that cost is a
primary indicator of quality, but yes you get what you pay for in many
cases such as this. The Life Extension brand is a natural source
vitamin brand which is excellant & complete in its ingredients, butits
an EXAMPLE, not exclusive, so shop around. I like the NutriLite brand
myself, but to each there own likes. Educate yourself on each listed
ingredient, compare brands, and you will be able to make better choices
    for your own health needs.

No it's not. Some vitamins are still synthetic or even have different
chemical structure from the "natural" ones. Folic acid is an
example. Not really LEF's fault but nevertheless. Synthetic folic acid
is converted to the natural form but the reaction is saturated at low
    doses.

<<joni>> is wrong?! OMG, what a shock, Domitru.

    🙂
